^^ Maybe *oopski* for a start.

Ehm, and before you follow Frieda's advice (not a bad one - unless you're out for adventure ;)),
could you please ask her if she has a brother :D - age 25-35, blue, green or grey eyes would be fine... but well I'd have to look-see anyways.
Spassibo, dude! :)

well, the word 'bigwig' made me want to giggle, then i pictured
him and was very scared, then i looked at her and felt deep
regret. so it was a kind of humourous longing terror sadness.

If that helps you in any way:
There's other stunning young babes out there whose daddies ain't scary Russian military men (or a mafiosi, contract killers or other such niceties)!

Well, and bigwig this bigwig that, I'd bet my ass that the girl very likely's got total control over him ;)

what is the word for the emotion felt when a stunning young
babe looks up at you and says; 'my father is bigwig in russian
militaare' and later; 'i'm daddy's girl'?

is this before or after you've hit on her?

craig johnston
07-16-2007, 08:07 AM
not sure what that means.

we were having a flirty conversation in a bar. does

Craig, you sure she did not just take the piss out of ya? You know making you hot and then telling you some horror story.

Did you notice any bodyguard(s) lingering in the background btw. Asked my personal Russia expert (who has a buddy in Moscow who works for the fossil fuel mafia... er... mean fossil fuel industry) and he thinks it a bit strange: a daughter of some big army dude running alone around in Berlin. Not impossible, but strange, he says.

In China number 8 stands for wealth and 6 for luck. People there buy themselves good phone numbers.

Got the sequence 868 in my mobey phone number anyways, which is very good says my Chinese friend: luck flanked on both sides by money.

But: Hello?! Money? Luck? Where are you? Please call me! Thanx :)

^OMG HAVE YOU NEVER HAD A BREAKFAST TACO?!!?

Is there no end to the suffering of this world?
:D

http://www.lovemonkeystudios.com/blogpics/tacoc.jpg
Behold, the glory of the breakfast taco. I strongly believe it should be named the national bird. This one is in its pristine state and has not yet been christened with the everlasting love of the jalapeno salsa. To be clear, the "breakfast tacos" served at chains like Sonic and sometimes McD's and such bear NO RESEMBLANCE to the real thing. A proper breakfast taco consists of a freshly made, lightasafeather flour tortilla (or corn, sometimes, but not a corn tortilla out of a package!!! Those are made out of reconstituted cereal box cardboard.), and some combination of potatoes, scrambled egg, beans, bacon/chorizo, cheese, and the like. I feel the potato and egg taco is superior to all others. Regardless of the filling, it must be handed to you all wrapped up in foil like that. A plate is an insult to a self-respecting breakfast taco. When you get your tacos (because one is never enough), you go to the salsa bar and pick something out. I recommend a combination of the green chili-tomatillo and fresh red. The breakfast taco is nearly wholly responsible for my continuing to live in TX despite the 70% Republican majority.

*sigh*

I'm gonna have to make an extra stop this morning.

Stephi_B

Now, I just have to talk a word with the fastfood dealer of my confidence - by now more specialised on döner & felafel, his pizzas are... well, OK... (the Mexican restaurent two blocks away put tacos on plates, ts ts, ts) to a) include tacos on his menu and b) open a bit earlier for me ;)

^^^No no no!! There is the soft taco, and the crispy taco, and there's also the puffy taco, which is made with a thick, corn masa that puffs up when fried. Crispy and puffy taco shells are never used for breakfast tacos, but soft tacos are sometimes made with fresh corn tortillas and may be at any meal, though with different fillings. (Puffy taco is probably in the urban dictionary with quite another meaning. :D and, here's (http://www.texas-league.com/gallery/index.php?cat_id=30&id=591) a photo of Henry the Puffy Taco, mascot of the San Antonio Missions minor league baseball team, pretending to get crushed by Ballapeno.)

The burrito is made with a much larger soft flour tortilla. Burritos are at least 3 times the size of a taco, and at least in true Tex-Mex, they aren't served at breakfast, with egg and such. They're strictly a lunch/dinner food. And they are never made with tater tots like at Sonic.

There are regional differences in the words used to describe such things, and it varies even with region in Mexico, but most of the Mexican nationals I know draw the distinctions as above.

ps the tortilla hat is indeed glorious, however. :D

^ you guys seem to have as many words for "taco" as the eskimos have for the word "snow" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eskimo_words_for_snow) ;)

The linked wikipedia article has an interesting linguistic analysis partially debunks the popular myth (which I thought was true) affirming that eskimos have oodles of different words for snow:

"The number of words depends on the definitions of Eskimo (there are a number of languages) and snow, and on the method of counting numbers of words in languages that have quite different grammatical structures from English."

the rest of the article is pretty interesting, esp. if you are into linguistics...

Tacos are WAAAY more important than snow.

:D

That article is right on, btw. The many words for snow thing is really overblown...they smooshed a bunch of words from different languages together, and neglected to think of how we have words like flurry, blizzard, drift, etc. The upshot was that a couple of linguistic bigwigs used the overblowing to support their hypothesis that one's language affects one's culture. My man Franz Boas pointed out the obvious -- that it's not that their culture is inherently different; it's that they have snow 365 freaking days a year, so they have occaision to talk about it more frequently. If you plopped a few hundred Equatorial New Guineans in Inuitland, they'd come up with some new words for snow pretty damned quick. :D

Tacos and linguistics are a good match. Unlike tacos and lengua (http://www.recipezaar.com/45249). Yick.

The population of the city I live in is at least 50% Mexican, probably more by now because they breed like bunnies. So I'm not pulling this out of my ass but my attention to detail may be a little lax. Breakfast burritos are always made from tortillas, and the only place I know to get a soft taco is Taco Bell.

So are sopapillas made from the puffy taco?

Burritos, tacos and tostadas have always seemed to me to have the same ingredients but a different wrapper.

We have what we call here a slopper- a hamburger w/ bun (double meat if you want it) and fries smothered in red or green chili. What's it called there?

Sopapillas are made with wheat flour, and puffy tacos from corn masa. I don't think we have anything like a slopper, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time...

Sopapillas are sooooo delicious, btw. Belong in the junk food thread.

using the "epsilon" HTML character can allow you to make more sense when you decide that you really "penis" something

for example:

"i <3 apple pie"

here the "penis"-ing is going from the apple pie towards you. The character "3" cannot convey the proper logical order in the sentence.

if you say:

"apple pie <3 I"

it makes more sense, but does not read linearly anymore

to reestablish some sense of direction, the epsilon character is your friend:

"i ε> apple pie"

here, it is obvious to the reader that you are the one who "penises" apple pie, and not the other way around. However, you may want to increase the font size on the epsilon, in order to maintain a greater sense of virility:

"i ε> apple pie"

There you go..have fun !

I could not get the epsilon penis symbol or "glyph" to work using codes.

This is what I intended to say in episilon penisese:

Horses (penis) donkeys which = mules.
Mules (penis) nobody because they are sterile.

Any cute penising must be imagined. People probably do that from time to time anyhow.

^Some kinds of them migrate before winter. My house happens to be on a migration route, too, and some years a whole lot of them will gather in the corners of the front room, go into hibernation all winter (during which time I have to avoid them carefully whilst on cobweb patrol) and then in spring they all revive on the same day somehow, and my son and I spend a lot of time on catch and release.

Stephi_B

^^Does your balcony get the afternoon sun? Cos in my case it's bathroom and kitchen that get ladybird invasions since, er, two years I'd say, mostly in autumn like Perla says, but not exclusively.
Are there many albinos http://www.featurepics.com/FI/Thumb/20060823/AlbinoLadybird67944.jpg among them? Had like two dozen of them alone in my kitchen once. Strange thing.

Was just standing outside, smoking, watching the sun set, when a bunch of local youngsters (14, 15 or so) came strolling down the campus (yeah outta here in the nowhere there ain't much good places to hang out), playing with firecrackers. That reminded me that also in my neighbourhood firecracker-burning goes on all the time of the year, not just (Western or Chinese) New Year. The current trend is to stick them in the tram rails, to scare car drivers going by, I suppose.
Hey, when I was a kid, we did play around with firecrackers a lot too, BUT only around New Year's Day.
Do they sell them now non-stop? Am not consciously aware of that. Or do the kids hoard them?

Frieda
10-15-2007, 02:10 PM

^ hard to tell the difference between a pore and a core, innit ?

Stephi_B

^Aye, I figured core is the innermost (--> core) point formed by the inner line of a whorl or loop.
Am quite disappointed that I don't have a whorl or a double loop, just single loops and arches... Gotta check my toepatterns latter on.

I was just thinking about the expression, "shoes on the wrong feet." How can your feet be wrong? Each is always on the end of the same leg. It should be "feet in the wrong shoes."

But then people would think you were wearing someone else's shoes.

Alas. A catch-22.

Hah, Craigo Johnstovic, CJic, I knew you're a Croat in truth! Hailing from the wonderful country where mountains are like penisses (or so, my Serbocroatian is a bit rusted in). That fake Britishness is smashing though... ;)

Ah, Croatian men... like poetry... aah, Boris M.ic: We met in the ides of the summer holidays, I was hanging headfirst on this framework for beating carpets (an art I had perfected earlier in my holidays), he stopped, smiled and said 'Hi.' I saw his cornflower-blue eyes and the scar on his brow... He was 17, had hair on his breast (lotsa hair!) and taught me how to kiss 'real', I was 12, and that was the problem as soon he believed it - 6 1/2 days laters... but, ah, that been such wonderful 6 1/2 days, how he kissed, aah, he was so sweet! :)

here's a llama
there's a llama
and another little llama

fuzzy llama
funny llama
llama llama duck

llama llama cheesecake llama
tablet brick potato llama

llama llama mushroom llama
llama llama duck

i was once a treehouse
i lived in a cake
but i never saw the way
the orange slayed the rake

i was only three years dead
but it told a tale
and now listen, little child
to the safety rail

did you ever see a llama
kiss a llama
on the llama
llama's llama
tastes of llama's

llama llama duck

half a llama twice the llama
not a llama
farmer llama

llama in a car
alarm a llama

llama llama duck

is it how it's told now
is it all so old?
is it made of lemon juice
doorknob ankle cold

now my song is getting thin
i've ran out of luck
time for me to retire now
and become a duck

^ You typed that all out from memory, didn't you? I made the mistake of showing it to two children once - before I had to sit in the same car as them on a long road trip. I pretty much learned it off by heart from that.

I've got a very important hypothetical question for you all.
You have two dogs, both Siberian huskies with white masks, legs and bellies but otherwise coloured. One is black and grey, the other is golden-brown. You know their names are Shadow and Holly, but which name goes with which dog?

Later you find out that the black one is female and the brown one is male. Do you switch the names around, or keep them as they are?

brightpearl
11-27-2007, 08:06 PM
^the most important factor is whether the dogs already know their names...

That article was right. All actors should carry cell phones.

It looks much less crazy to walk down the street practicing my monologue with the phone's to my ear so it looks like I'm talking to someone and not just myself.
