free rice

Heard this on the BBC this am. Guess it didn't do too well last week but then really picked up.
Know the correct definition and feed hungry people. Thought you vocab junkies would like it.

This is so cool :) I was doing pretty well and then they started in with some 50-cent words :D Learned quite a few new ones! I will definitely be going back there - that was fun!

I managed to guess that "pibroch" is bagpipe music. That's fun, thanks.

You can always brag about what vocab level you got up to.

Tunesmith 11-11-2007 04:04 PM

...that's one of the best things I've ever seen on the internet. it pretty much pays for itself with those ads!

Thanks l'azizza! :D

49. I would've got to fifty but the damn thing seems to flip into French.

l'azizza 11-13-2007 03:17 AM

I never get past 35. I like to put my vague knowledge of pre/ suf fixes to work. So glad rice doesn't get taken away with an incorrect guess.

How much rice do you earn before you stop? I sent it out to a few friends and one said he was at 4100 before he called it a night.

I'd like to thing you kids are responsible in the huge jump:

9 November 2007 63,253,810
10 November 2007 122,377,240
11 November 2007 136,236,930

The first day the sight was launched:

7 October 2007 830

(someone wasn't too keen on promotion)

i spent a few hours this weekend with this great challenge and racked up some bowls of rice!!! working on crossword puzzles also helps - 'specially the obscure ones.

trisherina 11-13-2007 10:32 AM

I can't tip past 49 yet either. YET!

Hyakujo's Fox 11-13-2007 10:41 AM

ah, they do start to repeat after awhile so there's always hope. :D

Frieda 11-13-2007 11:06 AM

as long as i'm over 40 i'm ok but as soon as it drops below 35 i'm completely lost-- until level 25 where i seem to know most words again. weird how there seems to be some sort of gap in my english vocabulary!

daverbee 11-13-2007 12:40 PM

Nice website. Good place to visit while I'm between tasks at work...
