so did anyone see the football yesterday?

austria - croatia: i was expecting a bit more football and a little less theatre from the croatians, instead the austrians started to play better every minute during the game, they gave everything they had. croatia can consider itself lucky to have won!

and germany - poland! i'm always impressed how the germans take every chance they get to score. they can play a crappy match and still win in the end with this quality. it's something us dutch lack, we get a million shots on goal but none ends up in it. that aside, i enjoyed watching the game, the 2nd goal by Podolski was an awesome one, from the book. the polish team did well.

oh come on, doesn't anybody watch the tournament?? :confused:

i have to admit, that even though i KNOW FOR SURE the NLs are going to win, my money is also on portugal.. they beat us 2 years ago in a very violent match.

i just hope we're going to win tonight against italy.. it will be tough, hopefully all the italians will be sent off with red because of their theatrical qualities :D

Only in the last World Cup they sorta played cool, easy, so I for the first time ever supported them.
What is even more embarrassing is that unlike in the World Cup where it was such a relaxed party feeling, the football-patridiocity has set in again. I was lying there in my bed fighting with me headache and outside they were going as if we'd won at least the final :mad:

^^ aw, sorry you were feeling bad! the oranje madness has kicked in here too, the shopping centre is filled with orange flags and balloons and whatnot, and the street my parents live in also has flaglines across.. and i just saw someone with an orange pippi wig passing by downstairs! :D i think it's time to bring out my own oranje attire :D

OK I missed the first 25 min cos I missed the fukken train, but THEN I came out of the subway, rushed around the corner to the first bar/cafe/restaurant (all places had screens outside on the street) and GOAL :D I went one block further, just in time to watch another GOAL :D, then I came in the dead part of my street (no bar/cafe/restaurant for like 400m) so I walked fast, rushed upstairs, turned on telly. OK then was the halftime break, so I took a shower, but then I was back, I drank orange juice to enhance the Oranje power (from my pirate smurf glass to join forces with you Frieda ;)) and some time later: GOAL :D

Oranje babes = good babes :)

Contrary to the Greece--Russia thing on Sat, I was happy my Russia won, but the football was quite low quality on both sides, only in the end there was some good action (from the Russian babes more :))

Turkey Fans Fill the Streets of Germany

The party was unprecedented. Following Turkey's improbable Euro 2008 comeback win over the Czech Republic on Sunday night, Germany's Turkish community took their celebration onto the streets.

The centers of Germany's big cities were transformed into seas of Turkish flags on Sunday night as tens of thousands of football fans took to the streets to celebrate Turkey's improbable 3-2 comeback victory against the Czech Republic. In Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and other cities, Turkey fans paraded through streets in car conveys, honking their horns and shouting "Türkiye, Türkiye" after the final whistle of the EURO 2008 game on Sunday.

On Berlin's famous Kurfürstendamm avenue, traffic came to a standstill as 25,000 fans celebrated their team's win. "I've never seen anything like this in my life," a jubilant Turkey fan told the German news agency DPA. In Kreuzberg and Neukölln, two other parts of the city with large Turkish populations, ecstatic fans danced on the streets and set off firecrackers. A police spokeswoman in the Kreuzberg district said: "There's a total party atmosphere."

The mood was very different earlier in the evening. Many Turkish fans had already resigned themselves to their team's going out in the group stage. At a public screening in Hamburg many of the nearly 5,000 Turkish fans had gone home early while their team was losing 2-0.

But an amazing comeback by Turkey -- three goals in the last 15 minutes -- secured victory and a place in the quarterfinals. "It's like a miracle," said 20-year-old Okan Türk, while celebrating the victory with friends in Hamburg.

I thought I've really seen all after that on Sun where close to the end the Turkish goalkeeper got a red card & was replaced by a fieldplayer (so good there was no penalty shooting!!!)
