The Strange Fear/Phobia Thread
 

Well, I was searching the internet yesterday and realized that I have a very uncommon phobia... Trypaphobia (the fear of holes, or clusters of holes!). I couldn't believe that other people had the same phobia as I do! I'm not alone! :eek:

Anyone else have a strange fear or phobia to share?
Does anyone share MY phobia?

hello can you give examples of when and how this fear of yours manifests itself?

Hmmm.... I can't look at lotus seed pods. They freak me out! I get dizzy and feel like vomiting just thinking about them!!! And certain kinds of rocks... if they have pores in them where they have worn away...it freaks me out!!!
Anything that is covered in holes, or clusters of holes disgusts me to no end. :(

are you OK with golf balls and dimply babies ?

i too find that type of thing disturbing - some kinds of biscuits i can't go near

Yeah, those are fine. Sometimes coral does it to me too, but never golf balls. I must say, dried lotus seed pods (like those in potpourri) are the absolute worst!!! :eek:

Yes! Like the insides of baked goods.... and sponges! *shudder* Most of the time sponges and baked goods don't bother me... but sometimes they do. I guess I'm just strange.

are you okay with jarlsberg cheese?

Someone close to me couldn't bear to take the metro at one point in her life, but has since recovered that capacity. The phobia developed around age 30 and then disappeared around age 45.

Yours will probably diminish one day.

Ohhh...so that's why your picture of the fingers over in the "*shudder* etc." thread was so disturbing.

DoonDoon, I have a fear of hanging.

What's strange is that I wouldn't mind it happening to me - the death I'm cool with.

It's just the idea of the dead body left hanging in the air, swinging baaaack and foooorth that really paralyzes me.

Oh, and the snapping of the spinal cord. That wouldn't be too pleasant.

I know! I stared at it for around 2 minutes, trying to convince myself it wasn't real

Yeah, I could look at that cheese all day and have absolutley no fear/reaction to it. :D

Pomegranates are... okay. If I look at them for too long I feel wierd.

If any of you are interested...this is the picture that got me "started" on this phobia. It is kinda "adult" I guess... it's a breast. I found it while doing a health research project (I don't go looking for this shit!)
