tranche - to make statements, or ask questions, so provocatively, or that are so provocative, or both, that the subject and manner of the posts are just barely within the bounds of a forum's discussion rules.

He's practiced the same tactics on several other lists, to enormous annoyance, but he's such an accomplished trancher it makes it difficult to toss him off lists.
