I got a card with an indian and another with some ham and chicken artwork from Daver. Thanks Daver - you've been busy.

Bring your hiking boots!

NimbleMarmoset 07-06-2005 04:32 PM

Gatsby sent me a hello from the great state of Okalahoma.

PM me your address, would like to return the greeting :D

Thank you Nimbles, for the lovely postcard of the ideal L.A.! I think I saw the city look just like that, once, after a rain, when the wind was blowing really hard. We know in our hearts what a truly pretty girl she is inside ;)
Does your building rock in a high wind? That must be trippy.
Speaking of downtown, have you ever been to the Atomic Cafe? Is "Al's Bar" still there? What about that diner in the Flower District that opens at 3:00 am and serves amazing lemon merengue pie? I'm blanking on the name. Do you ever go get dim sum in Little Tokyo on the weekends? I think I miss that ritual the most. Wow, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Watch your mailbox...

Most (if not all) the building are built on rollers, so I guess you could say they "rock n roll." Al's Bar, sorry to say, is long gone. The last few nights people were literally tearing memotos off the bathroom walls, the doors, anything that was bolted down (and even some that was). Haven't been to the Atomic Cafe, but there's a cool bar downtown now called the Golden Gopher. Quite the Happy Hour once all the "suits" comingle with the artist's district. Flower Mart is still booming. My all time favorite though is the Pacific Dining Car. Pricey, but happy hour there has jumbo shrip the size of your big toe! and free too! i suppose it makes up for the $12 martinis.

You ever make it down this way again, i'll take you on the grand "dive bar" tour. ;)

AHHRRGGGH! Oh oh oh knife to the heart. I guess I've been gone a long time. I'm going to need a $12 martini as soon as I get to town to help me get over this news. We're due for a Disneyland run in the next couple of years, so I will definitely give you the heads up!

This may be far from your stomping grounds, but ...is the Firefly in Hollywood still there - where they actually spill booze onto the bar and set fire to it - or did it get Disneyized with the rest of that area after the riots?

Got home yesterday and found a postcard in my mailbox depicting the Icelandic version of a Deadbeat Dad! Kinda comforting to know that people are the same all over the world, even the good-for-nothings! :D
Thanks, venus!

I'm glad you liked the card and understood the humor behind it ;)
In Iceland they're called the weekend fathers that basicly don't care about their kids. The grin on the guy's face always cracks me up :D

Post card from the edge? PM me your monkey mail address for a card from OBX by Tues.

Going for a walk on the beach now. The family is watching a noisy mindless movie and I don't even care if it's rainy out.
