NaNoWriMo, anyone?

Hello <Friend's Name>,

You've been challenged by auntie aubrey to write an entire novel in the month of November.

Think you're up to the challenge? Come to http://www.nanowrimo.org and prove it!

i wasn't sure i would participate this year, but on my recent roadtrip i was suddenly struck with sufficient inspiration to give it a try. anyone else interested in trying to squeeze out 50,000 words in 30 days?

Tunesmith 10-22-2006 02:40 AM

My friend Holly has been talking about this for months. She's tried to convince me to do it with her, but 50k words is a huge amount. Maybe next year...

Good luck, Auntie! :D

14 days. excuse me while i pat myself on the back. now i've got 2 more days to finish the whole thing, so i can say "i wrote a novel before i turned 30."

Way to go Auntie. Still time for a sequel?

auntie aubrey 11-14-2006 10:09 PM

i'll write the sequel next november. :D

Tunesmith 11-15-2006 08:33 PM

What's your plot, Auntie?

Holly's 26k into it, and still doesn't know what the hell she's writing about.

auntie aubrey 11-16-2006 04:45 AM

i'm referring to it as an "urban sci-fi mystery" and its plot is probably best summarized as "a jumbled wad of derivative crap." but it's quantity over quality, baby.

it's got albino clones in it. nothin' says lovin' like albino clones.

I heard about this last year and it slipped my mind...go go go aubrey!
Type. Type like the wind!

I wonder about starting now. Since the month is half over now, you think they'd they'd accept a "novella"?

auntie aubrey 11-16-2006 02:38 PM

they'd let you participate, but unless you reached 50k by the end of the month you wouldn't get your recognition.

give it a try! i did 50k in 13 days. there are a lot of people just starting this week and it's definitely not impossible.

Brynn 11-16-2006 02:56 PM

Okay, I just signed up! See you in December, I guess :)

dinzdale 11-16-2006 03:56 PM

try to work in some dwarves.

And killer robot dogs.

And a llama.

called Rodney.

with a speech impediment.

Now, THAT I could read....

Brynn 11-16-2006 07:38 PM

I think you've got the makings of a terrific kid's story, after you edit out all the dirty bits from the first draft. You should sign up too!

dddrum 11-17-2006 03:32 PM

Oh gawwwwd... with my rampant ADD, I'd be hard pressed to finish a haiku by the end of the month! :D

geechee_girl 11-29-2006 04:11 AM

I signed up but I'm only around 10K in. The work is keeping busy (a good thing).

I finished in 2004, and almost finished in 2005. ;) Maybe next year I'll finish again.

auntie aubrey 10-09-2007 01:44 PM

*bump*

psssst. it's coming. if i finish in 13 days again this year i'm going to try to finish a second one before the end of the month. unfortunately i don't think my plot idea has 50k words in it, and i have no ideas for a second.

so who's up for a little quantity over quality?
