as for brian atene himself, i confess at first i thought he was just funny. but after watching it a couple of times more, well, he was trying his very, very best to get the part all those years ago. there's nothing wrong with that, is there?

zenbabe 10-31-2006 10:51 PM

no, nothing wrong with that, he just came across as extremely pompus. I don't know if that is the same guy, it has been 20 years and people do change. Even if it isn't him, it is still kind of funny...

auntie aubrey 10-31-2006 11:06 PM

by "change" i hope you mean "expand like the michelin man."

dickieC 11-03-2006 11:28 AM

I don't know who Brian Atene is. But that is really unwatchable. Long live Matthew Modine! Yay!

A bold re-interpretation of a classic

This sweet lady is really enjoying herself and has a lot of confidence and it's an astonishing performance on a couple of different levels. She's going for it. She put this on youtube to be enjoyed. So in all sincerity let's do what she wants and enjoy it for what it is...

zero 11-14-2006 04:38 PM

^she's has a kind face too. i imagine she'd sing a nice lullaby.

youtube is the new karaoke.

here's a young teenage girl miming for all she's worth to 'speeding cars' by imogen heap. i don't know, perhaps it's because my own daughter once looked and acted very much like her that i find something quite beautiful and poignant about this, transcendent even. the way she's just completely gone. threre's an ecstasy right there in her eyes when she looks straight into the camera. and then when she slips out her chewing gum at 2:15... well, i go misty eyed.

there, there, baby
it’s just text book stuff
it’s in the abc of growing up
