Just to let you know right off this Dream Maker is probably the Mopeder from ICQ or the anon that is ripping ICQ apart. I can't prove that but I have my suspecions. This is what he does. Is is probably the person that complained about Duke because he hates Duke.

Second. I want to say that I am very disappointed. All the users that came here from ICQ came here because I pointed them in this direction. I did this because I watched this board for a while and thought it was a good place to come where we would be welcomed not censored.

:: that was your mistake. i will certainly censor if it comes down to it. you seem to think free speech means you have the right to capitalize on other people's publishing platforms. not true. you can't write whatever you want in the NYTimes Op Ed (that's a newspaper) or the classified section for that matter. you can however say whatever you want in a forum that you control. that's what i suggest you do...maybe call it "everyone's a ***** except for me".

I understand that you want to keep your board a civil place for your users to come. That is what we wanted as well. But to ban people because they have strong opinions is just wrong.

Not only did you ban Duke because he was posting more than you felt he should, you closed an entire forum (CE) off to all users including your regulars. Is that fair to them? No. Why ban someone for having an opinion when they offend someone when there is an ignore function available.

:: because casual users/ guests see everything...think of a ban as a universal ignore function and you might feel better.

You banned duke because some complained about him. Well Why didnt you just suggest to them that they put him on ignore? What about all the other people that wanted to read his threads. That wanted to debate with him? Im not just talking about the new comers here I am also talking about the regulars here. I am sure there are some that would like to talk to Duke and debate with him. you banned a man that speaks his mind. He can be colorful at times but he is a good man with a good heart. I was wrong about this board.

In my opinion this placed showed it's true colors when it banned Duke right out the gates, no warning, nothing. To be honest, this place couldn't handle Duke if they tried. I would include myself in that category. They are a very closed minded bunch with all similar views and opinions. Anything they disagree with gets tossed out. Bottom line, many of us are moving on to greener pastures.

If you read the various threads, you'll not only realize that we have multifaceted viewpoints, but that nothing has been censored.

We may be a smaller community, but just because we don't have the thousands of people visiting ICQ every day, including your "Moped" spammer, does not mean that we're bigots. Please reserve the use of this term for the situations in which it actually applies, and not in those in which you are angry about your rejection, as unfortunate as it may be.

Since it's quite obvious that the regular membership of this forum has passed their negative judgement on those of us who came from the ICQ current events board, please post instructions on how to unregister.

Personally, I see no reason to remain where I am unwanted, whatever the reason, so I'd like to unregister from this forum.

Have a nice life and a nice forum.

No offense, but I personally feel that after 4 posts, you can't really have an understanding of what the tone of the forum.

Feel free to leave, but I don't believe there has ever been a previous problem with posters, besides spammers and (unfunny) assholes.

A generally-accepted, readily available, sure-fire, and easy way to leave the forum (if you feel you must) is to stop posting in it. All will be forgotten in a matter of days, if not minutes.

Those of you who really enjoy debating current events and politics and policy and whatnot might enjoy The Straight Dope Message Board, another vbulletin. They have a subforum called Great Debates where you'll get your ass handed to you in short order hearty rhetoric is the order of the day.

i'm not a n00b anymore, but I'm not an old-timer, either. I've made some observations that you can take or leave.

the reasonable n00b's who want to play nice are pretty easy to spot, and you know who you are. so be patient - unfortunately the nice ones walked into the room at the same time as the others, so just have fun, and please don't feed the trolls. As long as you're intelligent, civil, and don't whine, you'll do fine, and everything will sort itself out.:)

other tiny princess suggestions for endearing oneself as a n00b:

1. Read the previous posts in a thread to get the gist. If it's image association, for instance, post images, not chatter.

2. Read the rules of the thread. If you break the rules, it had better be pretty funny. If you don't understand the rules of "Ask a question, give an answer" or don't know how to embed a youtube video, then pm me or - gee, just about anybody. I'm very nice and I don't bite.:)

3. Good manners are never a bad way to go. If your mother never taught you any, then this is a good place to learn some. Then you can take your new-found knowledge somewhere else and be glad you're not the president of some country.

4.Before starting a new thread and pushing a popular one to page two (so annoying!) try posting in existing threads. The archives are so huge and rich, you'll probably find an identical subject that just needs bumping if you do a little research.

5. Ze is the god of the internet as far as we're concerned, and we're here because of his awesomeness and generosity. Go ahead and keep calling him "Frank" - please. So much easier than branding you on the forehead...

6. The H.A.T.E. rule comes in handy - never post when you are
High, Angry,Tired or - I can't remember the last one - Emotional? That's redundant with Angry, isn't it??????????? Drunken posting is sooo amusing, however. So is posting when you're high, but - okay let's just forget - did you say something? wait. what is everyone takling about. wer did everybodyu go?

7. Cut everybody a giant break before you decide to get offended. You don't know everyone's story. I sure don't. Everybody can sound like an asshole at one point or another - it's text. Read back posts before you decide you know where someone is coming from. Maybe somebody's dog just died - cut them some slack.Breathe.
Assume the best and be pleasant and just confirm your doubts in a pm or something. In fact, take all your feuds to PM and don't make the whole board read it. It's really unpleasant,and interrupts the flow of funkaliciousness and fun-having.

8. Current Events is not Debate Hall, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. I've always thought of it as a the water fountain to go catch up on what's new and to read some observations. At least, I used to. What I saw there yesterday for the first time was like watching a smelly, angry gorilla burst into someone's nice Canadian living room and start randomly spraying his scent on the doilies. If the forum ever comes back you will generally find that ugly name-calling and casting personal aspersions does not qualify as debate, and no one knows what to do with you. You may indeed have a good heart. All I can say is it's too bad that someone has to tell us that, because at that point it's probably too late.

9. I don't want to buy your cheap crappy t-shirts from cafepress. I sell stuff to make extra money too, but I don't cram it down people's throats on this board. I don't care how nice you are. It's really tacky. Would you bring Amway catalogs to a party? Wait, Amway people are a bad example...
