Absinthe
Has anyone ever tried it? My friend just brought me a bottle from Europe.
|
Absinthe is good stuff. I tasted some from made by the locals in the mountains in Andorra.
it was very tasty. I didn't drink enough to see the green faerie, but it was a nice experience nonetheless... |
Does it really cause siezure's?
|
No, but here is a very nice photo of Johnny Depp pretending to drink it.

^^ the good stuff, yes
the stuff you buy in european supermarkets won't though  |
it's still illegal here.. and we have a lot of things for sale!
|
^ really ?
Absinthe is legal down here in France, where the stuff you guys sell definitely isn't. i walked past a few absinthe bars in Krakow 2 weeks ago too. I'm surprised that you don't even have the supermarket absinthe  |
just pastis, no thujon ones. maybe it's because we have enough alternatives here ;)
|
It tastes like anise, right? Is it sort of like sambuca?
|
pastis tastes like anise, i've never had thujon absinth so i don't know what the real stuff tastes like.. i don't like anise.. sambuca reminds me of one of those nights that went really wrong in the booze & stomach department..
you know what i mean. just like malibu. and one of those sweet berry liquors. |
aww man malibu. My worst night ever puking my guts out when I was 14. I can't even stand the smell of that s**t anymore.
good times :) |
^ yup, that's what i mean :D
|
hmmmm, I will have to check the bottle when I get home from work to see what kind it is. I heard if you drink to much it can kill you.
|
yeah, booze is pretty much known for that :p
and it will give you seizures if there's a high amount of thujon in there (which is rare, but still). it's a GABA-alpha inhibitor, so it means that the signals are transported faster in your brain, which, if you're sensitive to it, can lead to seizures. so you actually should be careful zennie. |
tried some from the czech republic last halloween...
very odd kind of drunk indeed. and I woke up the next morning uncomfy (more than a usual hangover) and realized after a while it was because my heart was racing, like 120/min (usually ~65/min)...sort of put me off drinking it in the future so I guess I'm sensitive. or is that thenthitive? |
