I read this book in one week, which is really good for me. I couldnt put it down it was great. She actually has a memoir our called Lucky which I have heard is good as well.

A Must Read.

bought the book at 4pm today and am already through 100 pages. it's really a great concept and it's really moving. I can't wait to read more.

Some beautiful moments (last page, the dog, the memorial service) but for me they didn't outweigh the underlying horror of the story.

I agree. Pages and pages and the child was still dead. Forget it.

We were talking about books a few weeks ago and my sister Tanya brought this one up. Her memories about it were that is was very depressing, morbid book. Funny thing is, after she finished it a few years ago she recommended it, she passed along the book to another sister who then passed it along to me.

What I recall about the book was that it was about circles. i.e. the relationship between the parents/ marriage. It's not always a perfect circle where you see eye to eye, priorities are the same, you can easily relate to your mate. But in the end the circle completes, meets, and you are back on the same page. Sometimes the circle is huge and sometimes smaller. Makes me think about marriage by today's standards; the drive- through mentality and throwing something away when it gets rough instead of mending it.

By what the fvck do I know I'll only be married to the sea.

I loved this book, I need to pick it up again and re-read it, but it was fantastic the first time around. Great suggestion!

Yeah, I couldn't put it down, so I read it under the table in Chem and got in trouble. All mothers I know who have read it could barely finish it.

I thought it was beautiful as a portrait of grief and healing and gradually letting go over time. I also liked how for the little girl, heaven meant getting to go to high school.
