The Church of Google

Inspired by lukku and auntie's posts in the ¿ question of the day ? thread, I did some google-related research, (read: googled "google"), which lead me to the Church of Google.

according to the 'site:
We at the Church of Google believe the search engine Google is the closest humankind has ever come to directly experiencing an actual God (as typically defined). We believe there is much more evidence in favour of Google's divinity than there is for the divinity of other more traditional gods.
thoughts?

I love google. When ever I ask google a question I get an answer and most of the times it is the answer I was looking for. One of the nice things is google has never asked for anything in return and most of the time I'm ok with that. However, google never forgets, that hasn't really been a problem, yet. I've considered using scroogle and have on occasion submitted requests, but scroogle is missing a few of the features google offers and I've grown to appreciate. I wrote an essay personifying google, then realized I had crossed a fuzzy line. So now it's just one of those things we no longer talk about any more, the topic just doesn't come up.

I knew something was up when I asked Google how to do my tie knot a few years ago.

I remember a few articles discussing whether or not the interweb could actually attain sapience one day. It's more or less structured like a neural network, so there is at least a possibility of that happening.

I'll start worrying when i get a loading error that says
"Warning: www.google.com has moved to SKYNET. Please update your links accordingly."

Sometimes I just go straight to wikipedia. :o

:p

i don't believe in the divinity of anything so i certainly can't believe in the divinity of google. however, if i WERE to believe in divinity i would hope that the divine wouldn't have a vested interest in selling me things that may or may not better my life. google hasn't proven itself altruistic enough to qualify as divine yet.

although it's getting there.

edit: p.s. i just checked and got this message:

Quote:

Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at skynet.
*whew* we're still safe.

skynet.com bounces directly to loralskynet.com, the company that owns the telstar satellites. don't think we're out of the woods yet... ;)

Oh, that's nothing. A while ago I asked Google what the time was - and it answered correctly.

Google makes me be much more interesting and much more smarter.
Unless I have to speak or reply fast.

I want Google to be inside my head always.

Ooops. I forgot to take my pills.
