Good In Bed

Reading it for the second time. Has anyone else read it?

Hobbes 03-09-2003 04:36 AM

No, it's worth reading though huh? (Obviously).

I like The Beach, by Alex Garland. Puts the movie to shame. Absolutely brilliant unputdownable book.

trisherina 03-09-2003 01:54 PM

Yes, I found this an excellent, transporting book. Didn't even bother to see the movie b/c the male lead chosen (Leonardo diCaprio) for the film version made my face go all squinchy just thinking about it.

does it help those of us who aren't? :D

if we're onto the subject of Alex Garland then his second novel, thet tesseract, is far superior to the beach, which i always thought was little more than lord of the flies starring some big kids instead.

top recommendations:
'hard boiled wonderland and the end of the world' or 'the elephant vanishes' by Haruki Murakami

japanese literature is well cool...

Interesting point, but everyone redoes William Golding. I mean, how many versions of Pincher Martin have you seen out there? It's hard to do anything better than Golding. I recommend Fire Down Below.

I am reading it now, and funny thing Jennifer Weiner is in my good friends pre-natal class right now, I actually think she is due any day. Funny what a small world it is. But I am loving the book, very funny.

At the risk of sounding idiotic: What is it about?

From Library Journal
Cannie Shapiro is in her late twenties, funny, independent, and a talented reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer. After a "temporary" break-up with her boyfriend of three years, she reads his debut column, "Good in Bed," in the women's magazine Moxie. Titled "Loving a Larger Woman," this very personal piece triggers events that completely transform her and those around her. Cannie's adventures will strike a chord with all young women struggling to find their place in the world, especially those larger than a size eight. Veteran storyteller Maeve Binchy gave us Bennie in Circle of Friends; now Jennifer Weiner gives us Cannie. Look for more books from Weiner.

Good In Bed

Yes and really liked it! You should also read 'jemima jones'. If you're into sensual romance, I just bought an e-book titled: Captured by Celia Jade, found at extasybooks.com It's a historical romance based in 17th century Spain. I found it sexy and romantic. :)

Found this at my local charity shop and remembered your recommendation so I'm currently reading it. I have to say it's kind of depressing me... although I kind of like it
