Kitty Help
I am trying to find a home for a friend's kitty. I have been searching the internet for cat rescue groups and have not come up with anything. The rescue groups I have read about will only take animals from shelters.
Franklin is a pure bred himalayan, who is 7 years old with papers. My friend agreed to take him in (from a relative that did not want him anymore) and he is not faring well in her household. The humans are kind to him, but the three other cats that are there, will not allow him out of the kitchen. My friend had to move a litter box to the kitchen, because the other cats won't allow Franklin to use the litter in the basement. When my friend is at home she tries to keep Franklin seperate from the rest of the cats. It has been 6 months and the cats still are not warming up to him. My friend says she likes Franklin, and he is a very loveable cuddly cat. Franklin was raised with a dog, and gets along well with them. Just not cats. She thinks he is getting depressed and is worried about him. She wants to find him a good home, and is relunctant to take him to a shelter. He is cute, I like him, but he would face the same problem in my home, as I have three cats. So, if any of you know someone that would like Franklin, and would give him a good home, let me know. He has to be the only cat in the household but does get along with dogs. Or if you have any ideas of rescue places that could place him, let me know. Thanks. |
If they'd be willing to drive him to St. Louis, I might have a taker for you...

Brynn, I'm not sure if this cat is instigating fights with the others or the others are ganging up on him?
Look at petfinder.com for area rescue group as well as national ones. Petfinder has an area where owners looking for new homes for the pets can post them. Maybe craigslist? For a rescue group not to take in owner surrenders is ridiculous, especially when it seems like you and your friend are seriously looking for a good home for him and not the sort of people that want to "get rid of" their pet by the weekend. When you call up the rescue groups, mention that he's a gorgeous full breed with papers. You'd like to donate his litter box, toys, linen, etc. Can your friend or her relative swing a monetary donation? Minimally, if they say they can't take him and post on petfinder or their own website, will they post a courtesy photo and description of him? Take a cutesy up close photo, write a great description. Good luck! |
Have your friend ask her vet for assistance.
Also,. there should be a Himalayan rescue you can get in touch with...there are breed specific rescues. Good luck and keep us informed. |
