Where we ask for the opinions of others
I have 2 yards of this
![]() and I want to make something, but I'm bored of making bags, not great at making tops, and I have a ton of skirts. Any thoughts? |
immediate thought was pajama bottoms
fancy pants :D |
i assume that's fabric?
or you could make a decoration from it and sew it on a top |
OMG SEND IT TO MEEEEEE!
:D Even if you're not great at making tops, this kind is really easy to make and would work with that fabric. You should give it a go. ![]() if you make a bag for Frieda, you hafta make one for me, btw... |
pearly, do you know how to make a cape?
I'm in the market for a good pattern |
What kind?
I recommend the Cape of Good Hope. ![]() Or something like this: ![]() Takes a lot of fabric, but it wouldn't be hard, especially the top right version. Getting the lining straight is hard sometimes...use lots of pins. |
I asked a co-worker and she said a head band. I just walked out the room. I need something time consuming, not a 5 min project.
I like the second top down, and the first one. |
^Just spend plenty of time carefully spacing/pinning the fabric where it will gather up the bottom part of the shirt, and it'll come out great. Use all the little notches the pattern will give you, and start by putting pins around at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, and then fill in with between...
Hey, a headband using all 2 yards of fabric might get pretty spectacular... |
Apron!
|
I hate to say it, but I would LOVE a bag made out of that fabric!
(the first thing that came to my mind was wallpaper ) |
^You know, you could adhere it to a big canvas and hang the sucker on the wall, as Frieda suggested. I think that would kick home decor ass.

or, just in time for spring ...
Vogue Pattern 2449 Trenchcoat ![]() it would be very time-consuming...and of course you'll want a matching headband. And big orange or green buttons Wait, only two yards, huh? How about placemats and napkins? Two pillow cases? Book covers are always nice...make your own journals out of regular notebooks and give them away for Christmas. Better yet, make a bunch of pillows and fill them with flax seeds - then you can microwave them and put them at the bottom of your sheets to warm your feet at night. |

edited to add: It needs some really poisonous green rick rack in scallops to finish it off properly |
