Our Very Own Art Gallery
Exhibit your favourite pieces of art
(paintings, sculptures, installations, short films, music, architecture, etc and whatnot) - and/or your own if you're an art maker and like to! :) If you like tell something about what you posted: how you see it, what it means to you, how it influenced you, ... ~~~~~~~~ Pandora by Odilon Redon ![]() It's the moment before she opens the box. My friend had to draw me away twice from this painting - I get totally lost in it when I look at it for a time. |
Ophelia - John Everett Millais
This painting has always moved me. It shows what I imagine the release from madness would feel like. |
Manet's Olympia
![]() I'm fascinated by her face. For me it expresses strong self-consciousness, sadness / disillusion and some totally natural (imo positive) cheekiness / will to provoke. ~~~~~~~~ Picasso's Dora Maar ![]() I'm intrigued by the colours he used. Dora Maar, at least as painted by Picasso, is the doppelganger of my chica. ~~~~~~~~ Frieda Kahlo - The Love Embrace of the Universe, the Earth (Mexico), Me, and Senor Xolotl ![]() Fractal love - it's just beautiful! My fav of Kahlo's |
Sculptures by Eduardo Chillida, p. ex.
Berlin Buscando la Luz De Musica IV Even if I sometimes don't really get them, I dig the forms he uses and the rusty quality. |
![]() Has any other painter captured so well that "Take me, I'm yours!" look? |
![]() Modigliani, I'm in love with his use of color ![]() ![]() |
gustav klimt's tree of life edited to add: also, the kiss ![]() |
artist unknown, alas
![]() I sure hope it's on velvet. |
I miss the ORG and would like to see more drawings from you lot, so in that spirit I'm posting one of mine.
It's one of my favorite things I ever did, came out like it was in my head. ![]() I propose that artsy fartsy photographs are game for the posting. |
:( i can't draw

I love Klimt.
I love rusty iron. |

A Gesamtkunstwerk (imho :o)
Alexanderplatz The place where I feel good. |
^^I have the worst time with Jackson Pollack. I so want to enjoy them, but they somehow remind me of migraines. Whenever I look at one, I have to get really close to it and look at only one tiny section at a time, or I quite literally start to feel pain and nausea.
I think I read somewhere that he had migraines himself, and I wonder whether that's true and if he was painting them? This is my favorite spot I've come across -- the orange bit in Full Fathom Five. ![]() |
^I know exactly were your coming from, but I have a color obsession so I'm drawn to his work.
btw, that spot has to be one of the most remarkable spots. It's like an oxymoron to the piece, I love it. |
Soothe yourselves:
