annually recurring events that tell you it's Christmas time

  • fighting through 100,000 people to buy presents and food
  • wrapping presents and failing miserably, then covering it up with a ribbon
  • pouring water into the power socket instead of the christmas tree and blowing a fuse
  • argue with/get yelled at by mother/father/etc
  • panic attacks when thinking of Christmas dinner
anything to add?? :D

carbonizing the first batch of Christmas cookies has become a tradition

As a kid, I used to overturn the Christmas tree 1.5 times annually. Plus breaking the beautiful glass bubbles and other ornaments. Every year there were less and less of them.

Three or more packages of cream cheese in the refrigerator at any given time.

getting a batch of almond cookies in the mail from my mother in law, and an apology from her because I'm allergic to almonds and she feels bad enough to apologize for my allergy but not bad enough to include any cookies that don't have almonds in them :p

Fresh whole crab, eaten every Christmas Eve with family and friends on a table covered with newspaper and a vinyl tablecloth. No plates - just fingers, picks and nutcracker things. Melted butter with garlic and lemon. Lots of joking around.
