all my co-workers are sitting around wondering how much this is going to cost our company
:( |
NYC has left a msg on my machine here @ home stating that she is fine, just stuck in gridlock that is reminiscent of 9/11.
I would like a shout out from all NYC ZeMonkeys as soon as the power comes back on, to let us know you are safe & sound. |
I hope all of you - newyorkers, east coasters and canadians - are well?

Dear blackout,
I know you mess with the world's electricity, but if you could go ahead and not screw with EVERY FREAKING ALARM SYSTEM...maybe instead of spending the entire night talking to disgruntled power outted twats, who are clueless to figure out that I know what the *h* is going on, I'd be able to take the time to make a genuine call instead of a cold, 30-second, "Yo, just a reminder your power's out," I'd greatly appreaciate that. Also, you make me write crappy run-on sentences. Boo. Becki w/ADT Security Services Oh, did I mention there's been looting in Clevland?!? Exciting, eh? NO!!! NO, it's NOT!!! Not at 1:30 in the morning it's not! |
Be strong, girl.
One day you will tell story about all this to your grandchildren. |
it was on the news last night here.. the reporter said that no one was panicking, that people were dragging couches on the street and tried to make the best of it.. also, the images of dozens of people walking on the roads.. it all looked so weird! like azur said, this will indeed be a story to tell your grandchildren!

Hey, come on, you get to not work! BE HAPPY!!! :D
|
yup, i'm fine. :)
luckily i was in the office so all i had to do was walk down the stairs & out of the building. i spent the evening in my neighborhood. i walked around taking pictures i bumped into an aquaintance, Roy Thinnes [an actor who lives in the neighborhood] & we had a {cold} dinner in a nearby restaurant @ which we are both regulars. we took a walk down to Riverside Park where we could see stars in the sky & boats going up the Hudson. off to lincoln center to check out the status of "electricity" there & to find out whether or not we can open the theater today. a simple equation: no electricity = no projectors. |
Roy Thinnes was on my soap.

Hope all you guys in the Northeast/Canada are OK and getting back to some sort of normalcy?
Let the record show that I have not received a SINGLE piece of spam e-mail today - what a coincidence. I guess every cloud has it's silver lining - no matter how small ;) |
Cool pics on this site, you can do the slideshow thing.

Craziness ensued at the call center last night, and when I left, there were still over 400, nearly 500 alarms waiting to be pulled and processed. When I got in, there were over 1,000. Not to mention all the calls we didn't see on the boards that came directly onto the emergency dispatch operators' screens.
Then once the power came back on, the amount of alarms went up again. I imagine the kids at the call center are having a blast with all the alarms still coming in...but at least we didnt' handle the Rochester box...that's all of New York, New Jersey and up through Maine. I mean sure, we had all of the south up through Michigan and over through Ohio...that was insanity enough, but all those states are about equal to the popluation of those four or five states in the Rochester box...gah. It was a long night, and no one was awake to tell all of this to. I mean, watching all the video footage was cool, but being stuck in the call center was no fun. Work, work, work. |
