Getting older sucks because
Getting older sucks because:
- When I look at 19 year old girls in "that way" I'm now just considered creepy and weird. - Parts that shouldn't hurt, do. - Nothing I wear, say or do will likely ever be considered 'cool' again. |
Because what you see in the mirror doesn't match your attitude or outlook..they haven't aged while the rest of you has moved on..and sometimes down lol
edited for spelling  |
I appear to have dark gray hair on the sides of my head.
|
because...
- all the above and - when you open your mouth you hear your mom, not you talking saying things that you said you would never say because they were uncool. |
You can't say 'dog' when refereing to a friend without sounding like an idiot.
Sup dog? |
Nothing I've said after 30 has been cool. I think I lost "cool" at about, oh, 26.
And to add: - you can't move house as efficiently without the bones creaking and the back aching. - going to any kind of club makes you feel like a pedophile -- and depressed. - you can no longer mosh without getting winded. - you get upset when anything is spilled on the persian rug. - possessions become burdens when you can't load up your entire life into a volkswagen and just take off (*sigh* I miss that kind of mobility). |

-When you are having a conversation with a "young" person about age and you tell them your age and they say in a consoling and condescending tone "oh, you're not THAT old." I used to say that to people I thought were really old (people who are my current age) when I was a teenager. |
When you get random instant messages from people and fark with them for a bit, but then freak out when you find out they are only 12 years old.
 |
Because you go to the mirror and wonder how you can look so differently from how you feel.
Still, I love the quote from Leroy "Satchel" Paige, an idol of mine and one of the pitchers on the 1948 Cleveland Indians. Paige never gave his true age; in fact he claimed not to know the exact date himself, but when he made the transition to Cleveland from the old Negro Leagues in '48, he was well into his forties. The 1948 Indians went on to win the World Series with Paige's help. Paige played until 1965; his last major league appearance was to throw three shutout innings for the Kansas City Athletics at approximately age 59. Paige on age: "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?" I try to remember that quote. :) |
... people on the outside can't, or often don't, see the person on the inside.

You start believing, or wanting to believe, all that Avon,Nivea,Oil of Olay crap they are peddling. If those products did half of what they promise, I should look about 11 years old. But still..I buy them lol

You are 'in the know' when it comes to throwing congratulatory divorce parties!

I've never been good with my perception of age...mine or anyone elses. Age has never really been a factor in my relationships, friendship or otherwise... never really thought about my age until I hit 40 (I'm 41).
I vividly remember being 19 yrs old and saying that I would meet my *then* career goal by the age of 28 ha! I thought my thirties were 'getting' old....then I passed 40 this year :O People look at me funny at stop lights when they hear Led Zepplin blasting from my family-friendly mini van ;) Aside from my Mother's words coming out of my mouth when one of my kids says they're stomach hurts; "When was the last time you pooped?"......... I became more aware of my middle-age when I realized some clothes in the stores were "too young" looking for me to wear. Nothing gives your age away faster on the Internet then the music you listen to :) |
