The Kids in the Hall
Has anyone seen that show? Has anyone found it FUNNY? It only amuses me once every three months or so...but since Lorne Michaels produced it it may have an SNL lover's cult following. I'm just curious...I've had it on my mind ever since I recognised a cast member on reruns of NewsRadio. And uh...does anyone else love that Paul Bellini character? He also makes no sense but...makes me laugh... Pardon my pointlessness but I haven't eaten all day and it may be affecting my mind.

Yeah! they're awesome, especially when sleep deprived. =D
I want to see then live, but I'd guess I'd have to go back awhile. hmph. oh well. reruns ahoy! oh! Speaking of which! September 19th is Talk Like A pirate Day! |
baka baka!
what rock have you been under if you haven't heard of the kids in the hall... they're the 2cd best import out of canada.... after maple syrup. best line ever: " daddy drank..." (the dad)"how many girls called you yesterday? zero, huh? and today? zero? Zero plus Zero equals fag!" "daddy drank..."

I'm surprised anyone's heard of it...cause I'm in an almost-home school prgoram my afternoon scedule has always included Kids of the Hall. Now it's SNL reruns. I love SNL but...I need my Canada fix! Even if most of the time I only have a vauge notion that it's funny and spend most of the time in a stupor.

For a while one of the Kids (the one that is always in drag cuz he's pretty, Dave Foley?) was doing a sitcom here in the states, TalkRadio. It was pretty funny. But it might have gone under when a cast member on it killed himself..or his wife killed him? Phil Hartman I think. It was weird to NOT see him in drag..and rather disappointing. Foley..not Hartman. HAHA

kids in the hall is my show of worship. shush! and brain candy (the movie) was genious.
|
My roommates and I used to watch BrainCandy in the middle of the night when we were drunk. Always about 20 people would join us. Our living room was not big enough for 20 drunk people, but it was still tons of fun!

Awesome show!
I'm squishing your head - classic skit.

Two of my favorite KITH characters...
Francesca Fiore & Bruno Ponce Jones...
(Well, them, Satan, Master & Hecubus, Buddy, etc...) :( Wishing the group still did the shows... On a road trip 10 years ago (& after a trooper pulled my friends & I over for "speeding"), we came up w/a new song: "99 cops lined up on a wall 99 cops on the wall You take one down & crush his head... 98 cops lined up on a wall..." We're a twisted bunch. ;) |
comedy is dead....
*Still* waiting for someone to take up the comedy torch laid down by those guys. SNL comes close, lately, and Ben Stiller's show would have been a good substitute, but no one has been able to match, for example, business-suit trappers... the aforementioned by Ms. M "head crushers"... dear Buddy Cole and his bar... CHICKEN LADY!!!!!!!!... "Open Letter to the Person Who Stole My Bike"... Francesca Fiore... the Quebecan prostitutes...
*huge sigh* I guess I'll have to be content with borrowing my friend's vids and with this site: http://www.kithfan.org/ to get my fix. (I'm not good at going to concerts...) The major attraction is a complete set of show transcripts... so even if you can't watch the guys, you can read the scripts and imagine them doin' 'em.... Or get four friends to do them with you!!!! :p |
Ahhh, the Chicken Lady...
"Would you like some eggs? They're fresh from my body" |
Alright, I digress...I downloaded the Dave song ^_^;; This is good stuff!

Season Three - Chicken Lady: Strip Club
Probably the most funniness per square inch *ever*. :D

Along with Ferris Bueller's Day Off (which was my mantra my senior year of high school) - KITH was the ruler with which all other comedy was measure by.
KITH and SNL are both produced by Lorne Michaels so that's why the similar feel. Though I prefer the Kids any day. Brain Candy did a great job of capturing the whole feel of the show. One storyline but as disjointed as the show was with leap from bit to bit. Chickenlady was fantastic and some of Mark's funniest work and I loved the one were she was with the bearded lady looking for the house she grew up in. Her wandering through the house and remembering things from her childhood and then eventually making her way to her room where she "hooked up" with her first boy... "they said he was scarred....scarred for life!" All time favorite though was Bellini and the "Touch Bellini" contests. Man I miss that show. |
