Does anyone speak spanish?
?
|
A little... but I'm sure there are people on this board that speak it a *lot* better than me... Audrey, for one, I think...
|
If anyone does, can you tell me how to say "Don't call me back until you learn to speak english!" ?
|
HA!
"No me llame detrás hasta que usted aprende hablar inglés!" |
That was pretty good!!!
say it the way its spelled, and you'll have yourself an insult! :p |
I dont want to say it until I have it right..otherwise I will be an arsehole and they wont even know it...but it is really starting to piss me off!
|
I had this problem at work a couple of years ago... the phrase I was told to use was "numero equivocado"
pronouned: "noo may ro ay kee vo ka do" ... if you want to be nice |
Lala, that's pretty good, but did you use a translation site? "Detrás" certainly means back but usually you use it to mean "behind," as in "behind the house."
I'd probably say "No me llame de nuevo [again] usted hasta que aprende hablar inglés." (pron. - No may yah'-may day nway'-voh ooh-stayd' ah'-stah kay ah-prayn'-day ah-blar' een-glayse'.) My Spanish is pretty rusty, but I think that's right. (Doesn't número equivocado mean "wrong number?") What the hell is this about? You have my interest piqued! ;) |

You gotta be careful with the straight-out-of-the-dictionary translations. Did I tell you about travelling in Mexico with my mother, and whenever anyone asked me who she was, I said "Es mi madre." Then whoever I said it to would crack up and poke his friend and have a grand old laugh, obviously at my expense, and I had no idea what was going on. After about five days of this happening, someone explained that in that area, you call your mother "mi mamá." The standard definition " mi madre" for "my mother" was what you said to refer to your "main squeeze," or your "old lady." I think my face was beet red for two days after I found out. |

Weren't Raul and Julio Gallo Italian? Or do you mean Raul Julia? I think he died. Was he after Dalton Trumbo?
