Extra Credit
 

Hi, all!

I've been gone all summer but now school's back in session and I have an extra credit assignment for ya'll. One of my law school professors is offering ONE ENTIRE DOLLAR to the person who can come up with the best limerick by the end of the semester using the word ANADROMOUS.

(Def): a*NAD*dro*mous (adj.) Migrating up rivers from the sea to breed in fresh water. Used of fish.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and, of course, I'll split the proceeds with ya.

An anadromous fish friend I know
At the seaside said, "I've got to go!
"I'll be struggling upstream
"'Til I practically scream
"But fresh water's where my babies grow!"

An anadromous trout, name of Fred,
couldn't make love in a salty bed.
He swam up a fresh stream
and had sex like a dream.
Life is short but good for a steel head.

A zealous young fellah I know,
had ten vodkas and put on a show
his words became slurred
which made us quite worried

who announced he would take his leave from us
"I have learnt in a dream
I should journey upstream,
I'll be back before winter I promise!"

Her biolo-clock is a 'tickin'
Age has given this salmon a lickin'
But with instincts anadromous
She's still somewhat glamromous
And though fishy, she feels like a chicken.

Of anadromous fish I do dream
I imagine them swimming upstream
Try hard as I might
I can't catch a bite
to batter, poach, fry, or cream

He wanted 'anadromous'!

anadromous bees may seem anomalous
(though their buzzing's a little monotonous)
they'll fly up a river
with their wings all aquiver
in formations completely homogenous

An anadramous hippopotomus named Cladius
Once thought that true love was quite obvious
