i hated the CHILDREN in the original movie. but i loved gene wilder and the factory. i didnt want it to be charlie and the chocolate factory i just wanted it to be willy wonka and his delightful madness making yummy candy.

UGH! those kids! And I love kids.
But you are right about Wilder; and I loved his attitude about the kids...you could tell that Willy had a very low child tolerance level.

Don't bother with the original movie. Read the book. Our teacher read it to us in 6th grade. I could read it 10x to Bink, and we'd never be tired of it.
