they tried, sorta.

Father yes, mother no.

I think they tried their version of doing their best. But the jury's still out on that.

I was very fortunate....I think my parents did everything possible to give my sister and I the best they could. I have wonderful childhood memories.

They did their best. Dunno how satisfied they were with the outcome, but I think I turned out OK.

I guess they both did. My mother did, that's for sure. My father I haven't seen since I was 9.....and I'm fairly confident that was the best he could do.

I know that they think they did. They are human and they made mistakes, albeit huge ones.
