Didn't leave the house today. Cat staring at me eerily. Hopefully in the next few days things will work out so that I can leave. But not yet. |

Didn't leave the house today. Cat staring at me eerily. Hopefully in the next few days things will work out so that I can leave. But not yet. Wednesday, November 22, 9:05 a.m. Put on hat and coat. Keys in hand. Cat staring at me eerily. Saw my reflection in the hall mirror -- was that really me? Maybe tomorrow. |
Thursday, November 23, 6pm.
I fed the cat an hour ago. The coat and hat are by the door. I just have to wait. It shouldn't be long now. As soon as he goes to the litter box, I'll make a run for it. He is getting up and heading toward the bathroom. I am going for it! |

Still here. The cat heard the click of the handle, came running back and has been watching me ever since. But I know he's dying to go to his litterbox - so I think I have the upper hand. |
Friday November 24, 12:30am
I have cleaned up the cat turds from the carpet, but I think the plant will die. I am going to bed. I'll try again later. |
Saturday November 25 10:42am
Spent the last hour looking out the window. I counted only eleven people pass. It's probably a good time to go out. There was a gust of wind earlier. I've been itching all morning too, god knows what the cat's been up to. |
Saturday November 25 3:45pm
OK, the cat fell asleep in the bedroom finally. I snuck over to the front door, opened it and peered outside. Whoa, I had forgotten just how much empty space there is out there. I don't think I have enough emergency supplies to go out just yet. This might require a bit more planning. |

Ok. The schematics are coming together nicely. My block is now completely diagramed in Visio--the City Works Department stencil came in handy. Now I just have to find a contractor that will install all the electric eyes and infrared sensors. |
Sunday Nov 26th 9:45 am
It seems that no contractors are working over the holiday weekend. I'll have to scrap the remote sensing part of my plan if I hope to get out this weekend. Sunday Nov 26th 1:24 PM I made a huge step towards getting out doors. I know it was kind of rash but I couldn't resist...I actually tentatively touched the front stoop with my left foot to test the stability of the outdoors. It seemed solid enough but I quickly retreated back indoors after the test. I am on a total "high" right now after my daring move. This is sooo exciting. I really think I can do this. Of course, I will continue my preparations to ensure that I will be actually safe when I really "GO OUT". I'm going to water proof my coveralls and rubberize my scarf and stocking cap for a more thorough test tommorow. |
Monday Dec 27 6:45 am.
Just woke up from the oddest dream and I wanted to write it down before I forget it. I was in a long room lined with beds. The room had ugly cream colored walls, and the beds all had blue sheets and blankets. There was a beeping noise but I coudn't see where it was coming from. Everyone was fast asleep, even me...yes I was asleep but still able to see the room...wierd huh?. I remember that someone was sitting next to me in bed holding my hand. She looked kind of familiar, like I should recognize her. She was saying "I hope you can hear me George, we miss you...please come back to us". WTF? My cat is named George. I wonder what she meant? Wierdness, for some reason I feel that the dream is connected to my test yesterday. Anyhow I'm just a little bit creeped out by that dream. I think I will postpone anymore "tests" till this creepy feeling leaves. George is looking at me funny again...but now I think it is not a malicious look. I think George just thinks that I won't come back into the house if I leave it. I think George is scared. I am too now. |
Monday Dec 27 7:30am.
It's still very dark outside. Too dark for this time of the day. I can't see anything out my windows for the blackness that is on the other side. I'm going to have a shower. |
Monday Dec 27 7:35am.
I think the showerhead knows my mother's maiden name. Lubienski. |
Monday Dec 27 7:55am.
That was the oddest feeling. Being showered by a faucet that knows me somehow. I'll have to make sure to not let it see my credit cards. Which might not be a problem since I haven't seen my wallet in days...where is that thing? I usually put it on top of the dresser. Was the dresser on this side of the room before I went into the shower? George is on the bed, watching me surrepititously through narrowed lids. He looks a little thin, I don't think he is eating much lately. |
Monday Dec 27 11:44am
I have found my wallet, it was wedged behind a bag of baby peas in the freezer. The missing dresser is more of a concern now as that is were I keep all my socks and I have run out of clean pairs. I hope I won't be reduced to cutting up towels like last time. |
Monday Dec 27 1:44 PM
After my daily workout I had to change again- dangit! All I have left is towels. I cut them into long thin strips and wound them abound my legs and torso to make underwear, and then threw on a Beach towel, Jesus and the Disciples- style. My cat is pawing at my stinky pile of clothes. Her litter box is full. The potted plant is full. She looks at me and chirps. I'm going to watch her and have a staredown. |
