Kölner Dom, also known as Cologne Cathedral in Germany

Yeah, I know, a bit boring and on top of it also a phallus symbol I guess ;) - but seeing this tower means "I'm home" no matter where I've been or for how long :)

boring?! it's fab. totally buck rogers style. when i first went
there it still had the original sixties james bond kitsch interior,
and there was this horrible sewage smell in the lift which was
common in all east german public buildings.
aah ostalgie! :)

Finally somebody understands! :)

(How much I got dissed already for liking places like Alex... not much by Ossis, but by pretty much everybody else - particularly by East Europeans)

Really missed something I guess - but the wood (er what looks like wood) paneling downstairs is still quite cool!

Know that smell

(when I discussed that new "Ostel" thingie @ Ostbahnhof lately with me ex-Soviet mate, he said if they can't do the smell they shall better leave it at all)

from a crappy hostel on northern periphery of Prague (oh, how much fun we had there :D only that absinth session one night - ouch!) and from this Plattenbau hood in Budapest where we stayed at my stepfather's friend (also great, that friend had a daughter my age and we roamed around at places the normal Budapest visitors never ever see)... ;)

My fav castle (visited it as kid):

it's made from octagons and other 8's and is a bit mysterious.

i love these buildings. i imagine enormous hands reaching down from the heavens, lifting them by their crowns, and ringing them like giant handbells.

 Wowow - I was just about to toast about the Kölner Dom, having forgotten that I'd already toasted! Here's some more photos :)

Though I must say I do like this.
