what's the nicest thing you've ever done recently?

go on, show off!

here's mine:
i was djing recently in a cafe while a street party was going on and i
was kinda in the cafe but playing out to the street. there were a bunch
of people dancing around and it was a very nice scene, but the icing
on the cake was that while i was playing a thunderstorm was approaching,
so there was a backdrop of lightning and thunder which gave the whole
thing an extra buzz.

so what about you?

:)

I do volunteer work for an organization in Iceland that helps poor single parents.

Donated money to cancer research after my friend lost his father to lung cancer this spring.

trisherina 06-25-2005 03:38 PM

Last Saturday: three hours of girl chat while bobbing up and down in hot mineral springs surrounded by mountain scenery, dense forest, and thick fog created by the rain dripping down on our heads and keeping us cool. The time raced by. Plenty of others were there, but it was entirely possible to ignore them and a bit of a shock to get back to the world of people and stolen towels.

Win * Win

Dog-sitting for a friend. The experience was good for the dog (I think) AND me.

I sent flowers to a co-worker who was having a hard week and never told him who sent them. Mystery flowers!!

sparticle 06-25-2005 08:04 PM

Overnight shipped an item to a customer free of charge because it was for a birthday gift and I didn't want the birthday person to be disappointed.

(The customer could have ordered sooner, and told me as soon as he placed the order that it was a birthday gift (instead of waiting two days) and saved himself the aggro and me the aggro PLUS the shipping charges, but that's not the point. The point is that the recipient will presumably have a happier birthday and I didn't take it out of the customer's hide.)

^^^^^^
The annual Festival of the Arts is taking place at the Botanical Gardens across the street from my house so:
I sat on the surface of the sun while 4 little girls sold lemonade and cookies to passers-by. The people who stopped were all wonderful, generous and lavished compliments on the kids. The kids made out like bandits and then spent the rest of the day in the pool becoming human prunes.
:D

Malmal11787 06-26-2005 07:14 PM

Donated blood.

melissa 06-27-2005 04:00 PM

I visited a friend last weekend and she really needed a haircut, but since she's barely working and has 2 kids and doesn't really have any extra $$, I took her to the salon and paid for her to get her haircut and bought her some new product.

daverbee 06-27-2005 05:33 PM

Y'all make my "Held the door for an old man being taken to the ER in a wheelchair" seem piss poor by comparison!
I'm proud to be associated with so many good people...

lapietra 06-27-2005 07:35 PM

Is the meaning of the title "kindest" or "most enjoyable"? You Brits and your parallel definitions...

For the latter, I'd definitely choose driving to Jalama Beach with Rob & watching the sunset... for the former... can't think of anything :( It's all been about people doing nice things for me! I'd better do something quick...

surflugen 06-27-2005 09:09 PM

I love Jalama Beach! The camp ground has to be the most secluded beach camping spot that I know of in California. The whole area is great. A trip up there without hitting Solvang is just not done either. I hope you went to Solvang as well and got stuffed on eclairs and other yummy pastries.

It *is* beautiful, heavenly, and the campground was stuffed full of nice people :) I've been staying in Santa Ynez off & on with Rob & his mom while trying to settle somewhere nearby (I was thinking San Francisco but now we're talking about San Luis Obispo) so I've gotten to soak up quite a bit of the area. Gorgeous!

Clytie 06-28-2005 12:53 PM

went shopping with my little sisters bought them cute new shirts
cleaned out my moms fridge
had a good talk with my brother
sat in the car with a friend and cried together
one of my friends is having money problems and i saw the cutest hoodie in her color...so i bought it for her

craig johnston 06-28-2005 01:41 PM

good question la,
i meant most enjoyable. thought that was clear from
my example, but whatever, it's interesting either way.
:)

Clytie 06-28-2005 03:54 PM

i just read the title and jumped in :)

the nicest (most enjoyable) thing that i did was test out *j*'s new speakers :) wowow that was awesome.

venusupnorth 06-30-2005 03:56 PM

They're looking for male actors to appear in this Clint Eastwood movie which is being filmed here in Iceland, so I called the casting company and got my son set up with in an interview tomorrow morning. He has taken acting classes and appeared in some plays. I thought I'd surprise him with this, he'll be so happy :)

priceyfatprude 06-30-2005 11:16 PM

Most enjoyable: Frolicked on the beach w/a bunch of Monkeys.

Kindest: Only the Monkeys know. ;)

trisherina 06-30-2005 11:52 PM

Falls into both categories: gave my child Pen-VK.

Malmal11787 07-01-2005 12:16 AM

I was standing in the return line at IKEA behind a sweet old guy who wanted to return a defective fry pan. The IKEA lady wouldn't give him his money back without a receipt. I had bought the same fry pan a month earlier and it was on the same receipt with the item I was returning. I let the guy use my receipt and he got his $8. I love that fate put me in line behind him

red 07-10-2005 07:46 PM

how can a frying pan be defective? Did the handle fall off, hole in the middle?

I put new snaps on a onesie that D likes, paid too much for and then fell apart. He thought it was ready to toss and was so happy I fixed it.

JesusTitties 07-10-2005 07:50 PM

it kept burning his grilled cheeses

topcat 07-10-2005 08:01 PM

Nice of you to do that, I'm sure he appreciated it ;)
I bought this teflon pan in Ikea a few years ago, never again. The teflon started peeling after using the pan 2 times. Their furniture are alright but I stay away from their kitchen suppplies.

I was at an amusement park last night, on my way out I saw a cell phone on the ground ringing. I answered it. Ther person on the other end was a bit confused. I told them it was ok, i had just found the phone and asked if they could help me find the owner. It turned out I was talking to the owners mother. I offered to give my number so they could come get it from me the next day. She said that was too much and instead I took the phone to the customer service desk for them to pick up later.

The nicest thing I have done recently, is nothing. I didn't say what I wanted to because it wouldn't have helped the situation at all.

Good for me!

As ever, you rock. :)
