Pigeon Post
When I was younger (I’d like to say about 13… I was actually nearer 19), I sent a Valentine’s card to someone. The card had a picture of a pigeon on it. And the top of its head was cut off - not deliberately, it was just that the picture didn’t fit onto the card – very classy).
Anyway so I decided to do a kind of ‘puzzle’ and make a sentence, with the first letter of each word spelling out my full name. So that then he’d guess who I was, and think that I was a) funny b) intelligent. He never called. Probably more appropriate in this case if we spell out our user names, or even someone else's user name (instead of our real names) to make some kind of sentence. So, mine could be: Just a short message, it’s nothing astounding… |
Tomorrow, sweetheart. Cool idea, but I'm just too drunk.

Jasmina,
Your valentine card story reminds me of my favorite all time bad resume stories. Some friends and I were swapping tales about the worst job applicants ever to approach us (we all owned graphic design studios), and one friend told of a woman who sent in a resume that as a little design flourish had the first letter of each section in a big bold capital letter. Unfortunately, her name was Lisa, and the sections that followed her name, running down the left margin of the page were Objectives, Skills, Education, and References. (Needless to say, a graphic designer that doesn't see the problem with that really IS a loser and she was NOT called in for an interview.) :D |

Just another silly man in North America!
Still, many are really trying, you're pleased (and nervous) to see. Zealots' ears rarely open. Zounds! Even fried rare, avocados need kittens. |
When I am involved in an exchange such as this, it amuses me to think that we are filling the ether with phrases never before written or uttered. Sorta like the "Do-Something-For-The-Very-First-Time-In-This-Spot" game that Natalie Portman's character plays in the wonderful Garden State.
Dere's Dave, drolly referencing underrated movies! (Or: Doo-Dah Day's really ugly music, if randomositude is important.) |
