It has taken me my entire life, and I have finally realized that

I may not be able to control what happens to me, but I am in complete control of how I react to it.

most folks aren't nearly as concerned with what I do, what I think, what I say, how I look, etc., as I'd like to believe they are.

(This is amazingly freeing and by no means a negative realization.)
