Love Was Gone
a song by "David Cannon" (a nom-de-plume), age 9 The trees were completely bare of leaves The houses were vacant and empty Ashes floated in the breeze Love was gone Love was gone I went to what used to be the town There were no people there to greet me Nothing growing in the ground Love was gone Love was gone Love... Was... Gone... [Instrumental interlude, featuring a symphony orchestra performing all these fancy classical sounding passages that I would hum to myself in intricate detail, even including the kettle drums, as I sat in my room imagining the glorious magnificence of it all...] I went back to my hometown There were birds and flowers all around me Ladies dressed up in their gowns Love was here Love was here LOVE... WAAAAAS... HEEEEEEEEEERE!! Here... have a hankie, DDD  |

I like to play
all day on the monkey bars. Round and round and up and down if I fall I'll see stars! I ride my bike and run into Mike in front of a great big car! I hurt my thumb Mike says I'm dumb on our knees we have scars. I skate all the way to the park and play and feed the ducks in the pond. I run up the hill and down it like Jill and have lunch at the ore ditch with my Mom. All night I sleep tight Rocky Raccoon keeps me safe. In the morning we dance and have tea like in France and sing and read and play! |
Appeared today. I didn't write it (well, just a little of the genetic coding).
Katie ----- She never bites, never barks, And just has a great time. The only money she has Is a nickel and a dime. She runs and barks and has a gas with me, It's so much fun to see. At dinnertime we have a treat, Her kibbles and snouts and me with meat. I love her, even if she has accidents sometimes, And only has a nickel and a dime. We invented a language called Haeete, Of course you know, She is my dog, Katie! |

I know a place where the Creek runs Wild,
where Animals Big, small, Gruff and mild, Come sip and drink at the Wild Blue Running Creek. Here comes a deer with nothing to fear she's thirsty and takes a sip instead of a dip. Then there's a bear with brown soft hair He wants to Fish And he gets his wish. Everyone's Happy at the cold Wild Creek It's the best place to go in the whole week! My pants are soaked up to the knees and I'm going to stay as Long as I please. Joan-Carrol, age 7 |
