Heads Up
No this isn't SPAM just a good deal I wanted to pass on.
http://www.skype.com/ Free Calls to the UK, Japan and Mexico every Weekend in July AND if you have Skype in or out, I forget, Free Calls local and LD calls 24/7 in the US until December 2006. They charge about $30 a year if you want to buy a local phone number in the US. But if money is tight and you have cable or DSL it's worth looking into. Bad part is no 911 access, less you program it LD and your computer is on 24/7, and if your net service is down so is your phone. The real nice thing is if you have family that can't afford to call or they are ludites and refuse to get a computer you can get a local number in any state. |
which was the VOIP company that was sued over the 911 thing? was that skype? or is that vonage or something? i didn't realize they'd found a way to resolve it, because honestly that was my biggest holdup about trying out that type of service.

I don't think vonage has 911 service. I'm not sure if this is true where you live, but if you have a disconnected phone line you should be able to call at least 911. Though that service may be accessible in only a few states. Congress needs to pass a bill requiring all phone line have 911 access. Perhaps the next administration will be a little more thoughtful. |
