I had a bout of trigeminal neuralgia that didn't let up for three years (cranial VII was involved as well just for good measure) and I can't imagine dealing with in-laws and christmas cooking on top of all that. what a trooper!
as an aside, a dear friend of mine recently had an upper wisdom extraction go wrong and he ended up with a neat hole punched between his hard palate and his sinuses. I asked him if he could floss it with a piece of cooked spaghetti, and he replied that he'd rather not die of sepsis.
