This is the thread in which we talk about gifts we gave or received
I got her a remote-start kit and installed it on her car.

Nice!! I'm betting she's pleased.
The Man of Rat was happy as a sand boy with his Celestron Sky Scout and Lego Fallingwater. Took me a few years to get through my head that "boys always like toys," but after 20 years I have solidly caught on...

Lego Fallingwater. Brilliant!
I received an amazing standard grevillea to live on the decking as well as a ponytail palm tree (aka a Dr Seuss tree). And a sterling silver loupe, several gardening books, two gardening aprons, and a book of smugglers' recipes from Cornwall. Best gifts given? A subscription to Straw Bale Australia (suffice to say, I was stoned after surgery and thought building a straw bale spa house would be most excellent), a bottle of Tallisker, and icanhazcheezburger poetry magnets.

given: a pair of LED-lit knitting needles, a set of antique brass aviator goggles, and a reproduction pocketwatch
received: nothing yet, but there's a big sheet of teflon in the mail for me ![]() it's been a noncommercial christmas amongst the poor and weird here in Utah - we're having a stuff swap later on tonight to trade each other things we like but that don't "belong" to us. it is the apotheosis of regifting. |

i have received the most kitschy gift ever-- golden angels spinning around on a stick, driven be the heat of four candles. it makes a tinktinktink sound all the time, wich is both fascinating and annoying at the same time. i think its from the seventies, the box in which it came is equally kitschy. it has a blond girl with two braids on it. happys all around!

It's so neat to hear about these wonderful things.
I like knowing that it's warm enough somewhere for people to give plants as gifts. ![]() I gave a crack-your-own geode, clove soap, peanut butter fudge, Japanese incense, and I made my best friend a necklace out of the tackiest faceted glass jaguar print beads I could find. She loved it. I got money, which I sorely needed. But also some new jeans and lipstick, and my best friend got me crazy socks and some glasses that turn all points of light into stars of David.Best part of the day was watching my son open things. And pie. |

Gave my son a kaoscillator, my husband an iTouch iPod, my daughter a huge box of art supplies, and my youngest really enjoyed his Sarah Palin toilet paper and an airsoft gun to shoot his eye out with.

A white plush rat sounds very nice!
Well, I got a bunch of art supplies and canvas to play with, and some Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots.
