A list of simple pleasures.
Sometimes, making a list of small pleasures in life forces one to realize just how lucky we are.
Hearing my sister was cancer free! Having my brother marry his sweetheart. How happy my dog is to see me when I come home from work. Seeing people sing along to the radio in their cars while I head home from work - their windows are up and I have no idea what they are singing but they look like they are having fun. A kiss from my boyfriend/girlfriend Hearing a child giggle. Having a very cosy "full" bed on a Saturday morning - boyfriend or girlfriend, dog, cat and me. Hearing my cat purring away while he eats. My flannel sheets. My fleece pjs. Chocolate. Two elderly people holding hands. A rainbow. Great big snowflakes falling to the ground on a sunny winter day. Fridays at 5 p.m.! |

Helping someone, being thanked, and telling them it was a privilege. And meaning it.

a thank you for an act you take for granted
a spontaneous kiss or hug from a loved one hsb. showing up with take out without being asked sleeping in and staying in flannels all day..and not caring about bed-head. making a weepy child laugh having a waiter tell you that you smell good talking about my brother and laughing at how crazy he was

im a HUGE fan of the driver wave.
like, if youre driving up the highway and someone wants in your lane and you go out of your way to let them in and they give you the thanks wave. that makes my ****ing day OR a big trucker whos hard to change lanes and you let him in.. and he flashes his rear lights in thanks. It makes me feel like a million bucks. |
