Oooo yeah. That is a great idea. Pretty much any salon you go to will ask you if you want to donate your hair if you are getting a chunck cut off - so you don't have to worry about looking for a place or anything. Good one Surbhi!

I've been dyeing my own hair since 1987 w/little to no problems.

You can get the semi-permanent color & it washes out in a month.

In the meantime, go get some fun hair accessories.

Wear it different every day: pigtails, high ponytail, braids, rag curls, braids all over, make about 6-8 braids when it's wet at night then take out in the morning, etc. Have fun w/it!

Your hair looks great now, but if you cut it & don't like it, it will grow back. Shoulder length would look cute & you wouldn't feel like you're just chopping the heck out of it. My hair is about the length of yours, I cut about 6 - 8 inches off mine every so often, if I get in a funk. It grows back pretty quick. I've tried coloring but it doesn't take. They have lots of temp. colors now, like PFP said, and playing w/ it is always fun. It's easy to get in a rut w/ long hair, I wear mine the same way out of habit a lot of times.

Oh I forgot to mention if you send it to Locks of Love, they need the ponytail to be at least 10 inches & 'virgin' hair or they can't accept it.

My old landlord when I lived in PA did this. He had hair to just about his butt, and shaved it off to become a fireman to support his brand new family -- three little girls over the course of the following four years.
