state of mind

i feel like crying but it's all stuck in my throat so i climb onto the bed where you're on your back and i lay my cheek on your soft furry belly. you don't change position and you start to purr, softly at first then very loudly. we lay like this for a long time and with every renewal of the vibration i feel the tension release from my throat and chest and the tears just leak out and i feel better. a little later you sit up and wash the tears from your fur, then sit and gaze at me serenely. we watch each other for awhile. then you walk over and climb onto my belly, knead a bit, then lie along the length of me, with your head under my chin, paws in my hand.
