HA Yeah, Wonderwoman's goanna just slide that mountainous pile of laundry she still hasn't done from vacation, right up to all the doors instead of sandbags. And the cinderblocks'll come from that great white-trash collection that Nico has, that I made him put on the other lot, way in the back. ha, WonderWoman.... tee heeeeeeeee I actually did have a pair of stilts, I wonder where I left them? |

We aren't expecting much as it'll weaken back down to tropical storm status after it hits Aud. South Florida has always been good about taking it on the chin for the rest of the state!
![]() Speaking about accuracy in hurricane tracks, the Meteorology Dept. at Florida State built a hurricane profile model that is so accurate they can predict the track and strengthening of a storm up to seven days in advance. Until now they were lucky to be able to make predictions up to five days and were always off. They're still studying it to make sure it is as accurate as it seems to be so they haven't released any data from it to the public yet. NOAA and the Nat'l Hurricane Center both use it although not exclusively. Aud, stay safe! I remember many times eating dinner cooked on my mother's fondue set due to loss of electricity. When Dora hit us head on when I was in junior high school, it went inland and then turned back and got us again! We were out of school for three weeks while they cleaned up! Had to make it back up at the end of the year, though... ![]() |

My sister and her family, my niece and her family, as well as my Dad and his wife are in Orlando. Tell me, what do you see in their future? I just assume they'll be safe. Any danger there?

They just better get Mickey in the bag today, cause tomarrow they might shut down, most of the rides stop if they're outside and its raining...what kinda luck is that?
As far as Zen's GBF, he'll probably go to some out-island in the bahamas instead of key west...all the cruise lines own islands that they use to guarantee a vacation...but by about 10:00 Friday night, Orlando's goanna have a good tropical storm.. They're lucky they have a hotel room, as that's where most people from here evacuate to! Last edited by Audreyvgs : 08-12-2004 at 01:28 PM. |

Guess we'll be seeing a lot of folks who leave early and stop here on the way back North.
'Nother hurricane story: When Hurricane David hit in 197whatever I was in Orlando and had to stay as they shut down the airports and all the travel lines out. Finally got a flight up to Jacksonville the very next day immediately after they lifted the tropical storm warnings. Delta. They'll fly through anything!Got on the plane and it was packed with tourists heading home. The flight attendants were giving out free drinks and stuff and everybody was in a real festive mood. Took off and all the passengers let out a cheer. We got up to Jacksonville, which was only just out of their tropical storm warning and, because of wind direction, the pilot had to take us over the ocean and in from the East. So-o, when we finally break out under the cloud cover, the first thing all these tourists see beneath them is water! Things got veeeeeery quiet until we finally docked at the landing terminal and then the whole plane let out an audible sigh of relief! Myself included. |

I was sposta meet Bink's teacher tomarrow, crap. I hope this doesn't make things more confusing for Bink, he's terrrrrrrrrified of starting school. Mostly the bus. I spose I could drive him, but something is inthe back of my mind telling me to let him tough it out and perhaps have a chance of growing a spine in the process.......what to do what to do.

My first day of 1rst grade.
Catholic school, Nun teachers with no-nonsense(no-fun) expressions on their faces, all the kids dressed the same. After 2 years of "non-catholic" Nursery school and Kindergarten, the scene freaked me out. The bell rang and I grabbed a pole and would NOT let go of it. My teacher could not get me to go into the class room. They had to pull my older brother out of 2nd grade to talk me in. And then it was ok once I got sat down. It wasn't till 3rd grade that the knuckle beatings began. My older brother couldn't have known.Good luck Bink. |
