Oldie but Goodie
There's a chance that this book is out of print, my dad had to read it for his college psychology course and he's fifty-four. The title is "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden", and it was written under the pen name Hannah Green. It's the in-depth look at a mental hospital from the point of view of a skitzophrenic. It's not very long (around two hundred pages), but it's still a good book. The way it was written suggests that the author was once incarcerated in a mental hospital, as the plot and subplots are very believable. I've only seen one copy of it, but if you don't have problems with searching used-book stores and places that sell old college books it'll be well worth your time.
