If you have never read the book., you are missing a wonderful escape into the meaning of Christmas. Chris Van Allsburg has wonderful books with fantastic illustrations; he also wrote "Jumangi'.

But by all means, go see the movie. It is an experience that should not be missed by kids of any age. The theater was packed with kids and not a word was uttered during the movie as they were all too facinated to be antsy.
