My sister-in-law is a nurse, and a friend of my wife used to be one. I hear GOMER a lot.
I don't think we were talking at cross-purposes, so much as about different aspects of the problem. I also wasn't thinking of the extreme disaster situation. In a lot of urban and suburban environments in the US, the resource situation is such that, in reality, there aren't enough ICU beds to go around. It's worse in rural settings, where it doesn't matter if they have the beds, because they can't get doctors to work there. |
