Hey, Red

Theres a guyhere down on Marco Island who offered me job layin out some duratrans stuff for hotel lobbies etc...

So, he's promising like 40 ads a week to do.

and guess who would have to drive the 20 miles to Marco Island and service the accounts, get the info from the clients and then drive home and do the layouts and pasteups and then run it all over hell to check it.

Why didn't they just ask me to sell the job too?

Whoever referred him to me must have told him there was a beginner here.

I think he must'a been the beginner! woooo hoooo startin an agency is hard in a placewhere everybody knows better.

He said, its ok, some of the art will come from agencies! (oh great, that means if I come close to the pantone 350, they'll say it looks more like 351 and disapprove the ad.)

*audrey runs away*

You need to start selling sterling silver and genuine stone earrings for a dollar like I do. It's so much more profitable AND rewarding.

It never fails to amaze me, the gall of some people. They think because you're an artist, craftsperson or artisan that you

1. don't have a real job, so your time is free

2. get all your supplies for free

3. will give them stuff for free because they already paid you for a different job (the stunningly fractured logic here is almost too much to contemplate.)

AMEN SPART!
You forgot the, "Oh, I can do that".

Aud, can you do any of that via PDFs? It would halp cut down on the traveling. Agencies can suck. It's mostly the 'tudes you get from them. You can always tell them the color isn't spot on because duratrans are RGB and some colors just don't translate exactly.

Yeah, I love it. I did a craft show a few years back where a woman held up a piece of my work and brayed: "$___? For this????"

I lost my temper. I looked her in the eye and said quietly, "I'm sure if you understood the nature of the work...ah, that's all right; sorry," and looked off dismissively into the distance.

Ended up selling her the piece. She just couldn't STAND that someone appeared (APPEARED, mind you) to know more about quality and style than she did. Few Wal-Martians or K-Martians can. CHA-CHING!!!!

I was at a juried craft show once and saw the best sign:

Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking: "I can do that!"
But we both know you really can't and you never will!!
