lunar eclipse

by silver ash

The moonlight lingering in the cold mists of this dark room
is melting in the blue
and seeps into the gray wall.

The shadow randomly casts shards
that carve into my body
the chilling blue seeps into my blood
and freezes in my heart.

The moonlight, burning away under its own accord
blue blood, freezing stares
in the darkness, ice seals the windows, the beauty is mesmerizing,
and I have illusions of happiness.

The chilled moon lingers in the mirror,
being melted into paleness
and seeps into the gray wall.

The shadow that randomly casts shards
that carve into my face
the chilling blue seeps into my skin
and freezes in my heart... moonlight.

A snowflake fell into my eye, tears flowed...
a beam of moonlight slipped under my eyelid and into my eye...
seeping into my skin, melted into my burning body
freezing my blood into ice.

translation from mandarin lyrics

you wouldnt think the song could be as beautiful as the lyrics but it really is. this is from the band that was blacklisted by the chinese government for doing the whole jrock makeup trend. they had to borrow instruments for recording sessions and got really poor, i think they're trying to pull together now. they were going to disband though.

i'll upload the song if you want it.

Wow; it's so easy to forget that artistic freedom of expression is not a fact in some countries -- in many countries, really.

I'd be very interested to hear it. I have never heard a jrocker song before.

I think the reason I like their looks so much is that they remind me of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust/androgynous/glam rock period, which was at its height when I was about 15. My parents were so outraged. Which wasn't the reason I adored Bowie (I still do, and we were lucky enough to have 12th row seats when he was here last year), but in those days it was definitely a brave step to say you liked that sort of groundbreaking stuff. You had to be willing to take a lot of crap from people who didn't understand or appreciate it. (Caring what people think has never kept me up nights, so that worked out nicely. heh heh heh)

I guess I'm curious as to what they sound like. Is it hard rock? Metal? Neo-punk? Emo? I feel so out of touch -- all that my daughter likes is hip-hop, Jessica Simpson, Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson, which is great for her but it's not my thing, and probably wouldn't have been when I was her age either. But to each his own -- she actually likes Bowie's "Fashion", "Heroes", "Under Pressure" (with Queen) and "Ashes to Ashes" now, and I am developing an appreciation for Outkast, so it all works out.

well, silver ash isnt a good example of jrock. they have an extremely unique but beautiful style, where the lead singer sort of keeps the voice in his throat...its hard to explain. i'll upload some different jrock songs for you as well since you seem interested.

well...every jrock band is different, some more similair to others. im unsure how to classify the sound outside of jrock though.

i'll upload lunar eclipse as soon as i can find the silver ash cd...in the meantime heres some random jrock favorites of mine!

click on the link, and from the page it brings up you can save the file.

these songs are by MUCC, a great band...tatsurou's voice is extremely emotional, but since its not beautiful by most people's terms they arent that well liked. i find his voice extremely beautiful though.

Rojiura boku to kime e - MUCC

Ware Arubeki Basho - MUCC

this is a song from dir en grey...thats the band shinya is the drummer for. the lead singer has a really cool way of singing, sort of like he's vomiting.

The Final - Dir En Grey

now this is a music video from sakurai atsushi...he's what i always imagined snape would look like. beautiful voice, but you cant really tell from this song. if i was a man i'd want to look like him.
if the video wont play for you that means you need the divx codec. just download divx from download.com and it will work fine.

Taiji - Sakurai Atsushi

and one song from hyde...you get to hear his english! its pretty good compared to some...*hack cought*gackt*cough cough*
The Cape of Storms - Hyde

Still trying to find time to sit and listen to these when the house is quiet enough and I have time enough to appreciate them....
