New Fall Line Up
For someone who doesn't watch TV much, I've sure managed to get sucked in by a bunch of the new shows on the air this year.
The "I've been sucked into the boob tube" disorder started a few years ago with "The 4400" on USA. One show I began watching regularly. Then, it was "The Dead Zone," which immediately followed "The 4400." Then I got caught by the "Into the West" miniseries on TNT, which led me to "The Closer" and "Wanted." Now, for the first time in some 10 years, I find myself actually watching network television. Here's my current "must see TV" line-up. What does yours look like? Sunday: "Charmed" on WB and "Rome" on HBO Monday: Nothing has caught my eye. Tuesday: "Bones" on FOX, "Supernatural" on WB, "Miami Ink" on TLC (not a show I expected to enjoy watching!) and "Firehouse USA: Boston" on TDC. Wednesday: "E-ring" on NBC, "Invasion" on ABC Thursday: "CSI" on CBS, "Criminal Minds" on CBS and "Sex Inspectors" on HBO Friday: "Ghost Whisperer" on CBS, "Threshold" on CBS and "NUMB3RS" on CBS Saturday: (Early AM) "Most Haunted" on Travel Channel This is all filled in with assorted re-runs of "Law & Order," or "West Wing," or "Cold Case," or "Without a Trace." I'm also curious how many of these shows are aired in countries other than America. What kind of television shows air in your country? What's popular this season? In America, it seems like the most popular shows are either - crime dramas - supernatural-type dramas - "reality" shows (which I despise)

Rome on Sundays, My Name is Earl and Boston Legal on Tuesdays, and Lost on Wednesdays. Deadwood whenever it comes back.
It really doesn't matter which day, because we line them up on the PVR and watch them when we have nothing better to do. The ones I'll often go out of my way to watch live are Rome (which isn't all that fantastic, IMHO, but aired in HD is just gorgeous) and Deadwood -- especially the latter. For TV series that no longer air but are really really worth renting or buying to see, I recommend Wonderfalls, and of course, Firefly. The box office premiere of Serenity, the movie that Firefly built, is this Friday, September 30th.

It wouldn't be Monday without Antiques Roadshow which I am home for just in time to tune in.
PBS or Discovery HD about the science, anthropology or art. I TIVO Woody Allen and Steve Martin movies, horse races, NBR, and Dave Letterman. CSPAN, and other news shows. BBC News, Charlie Rose. Do these count? ABC's Extreme Makeover if I'm really bored or a good movie, if I luck out on one. |
