Thanks everyone -

He's been doing pretty well yesterday and today. He's actually planning on going into work tomorrow, though I'm still not sure that's a great idea. He's taking darvocet for the pain and it makes him kind of loopy, but he says he can work out his med schedule so the loopiness doesn't hit when he needs to be driving. I may just drive him in myself.

I'm annoyed because the communication from the urology practice is so spotty. I had to call them back three times the other day to finally get the doctor's thoughts on the post-op concerns I mentioned after the staff repeatedly told me they'd call me back "in just a few minutes." As of this morning, I've STILL not been told what the next step is in all of this - we've no idea when he's supposed to go back in, when they're planning on doing the lithotripsy, when they'll remove the stent, etc. My way of combatting this has been to make an appointment with our GP for Wednesday. By then, the GP will have received all the medical reports and such. He's a good doctor and won't let it rest until he has all the answers.

I do have to say that while I've been extremely unhappy with the practice in general (and particularly the nurses/receptionists who seem to THINK they are doctors) - the surgeon, Dr. Cotant, who actually operated on my husband, strikes me as competent and kind. He didn't talk down to either of us and took quite a bit of time to talk with me right after the surgery. If we could deal solely with him and avoid the other doctors and staff, I'd be thrilled!

Interestingly enough, while in the waiting room at the hospital, I met another woman whose husband was dealing with similar issues (he was also operated on by Dr. Cotant right before my husband was) and they have faced the same challenges with the practice. Lots of miscommunications and such. She was also happy with Dr. Cotant and unhappy with the rest of the staff. Sounds to me like Dr. Cotant should head off and start his own practice - I'm guessing there are a lot of patients who would follow him. I know of at least two. LOL
