Its many moisturizing and healing properties make it a popular ingredient in top-of-the-line beauty products that only the most elite european women can afford. The bogs are guarded by armed men who are constantly fending off bio-poachers from America, as the countries in which the moss occurs naturally refuse to export it to the US. This species commands the highest price on the black moss market.
