The doctors could never figure it out why they stopped. My brain patterns went to completely normal when I was 25. Before that the patterns were that of having grand mal siezures every day, even though I hadn't had one since I was a child. So I went off medication and have been fine since. They said I was a medical mystery.

Me too. Cutting down is awesome. One step at a time...

I promised myself for my 38th birthday that I would quit smoking. It has not worked out. I have read that the ciggies are more addictive then heroin. Scary. I think it is mind over matter, and I have not arrived at that point yet. I have cut back from a pack a day to about 6 or 7 smokes a day.
Zen, if you go to the doc to get zyban, make sure he knows you have a history of siezures. My doc tried to prescribe it to me. I went to the pharmacy, picked up the scrip, and read the warning stuff. I could not take it because I have a history of eating disorders. I have not starved myself or made myself sick for at least five years. Apparently, if you either had a history of anorexia, or bulimia, it is dangerous to take zyban. My doc can't even tell me why, but, at any rate, I am glad I did not take it. Good luck, and I hope you can kick the habit. |

High incidence of seizures with Zyban + bulimia compared to Zyban used in non-EDs, dosage-related.
Zen, don't give up. It's a long process. Cutting back is a great start. Less cash for the tobacco weasels. Get the inhalers. Word. P.S. Cigarette smokers do the "cigarette to mouth" gesture an average of 100,000 times a year. What else do you do 100,000 times? Blink? The gesture is IMPORTANT to cigarette smokers.

I think we should rename this thread *SA* for smokers.... I'll go first. My friend in high school smoked Kools, so I did too. She went to college a year before I did, so I stopped smoking. Then I went to college and met another friend who smoked, so I did, too. I quit for a couple of years, but then started again and then quit again. Got married and started to smoke again because he did, too. Got pregnant - stopped smoking. Had beautiful baby, Ingrid. Started smoking again after finding out that the hub had started again. Got pregnant - stopped smoking. Had a beautiful baby, Erik. Started smoking again after finding out that the hub had started again. Got Bronchitis
in a big way six years ago and decided - now or never. I know it's hard, but DO IT!! Please, for yourself and your family and your friends. (And the zeMonkees)> ![]() |

Zenbabe - If you feel okay after inhaling that toxic smoke, okay. You must want to stop, more than you want to smoke. Cutting back is a great start.
Millions of people have quit. Keep the benefits in mind. Payback is your health. You can do it. Find your best way. It's important. |
