Super Bowl Detroit
Hello football fans.
I was in Detroit today for work. Detroit has done some major, and minor work on the inner city. Next to the stadium, not all of the vacant buildings have been razed. Facades have been placed on the front of the buildings, and the back of the buildings remain half destroyed, or missing. The city is razing buildings that are adjacent to that area. The plans are to close down the streets, so no one can see the rubble ( I saw huge piles of rubble) via car, camera or taxi. The very large buildings further out, are going to have huge tarps placed over them. I saw these buildings, complete eyesores. So, when you see the city of Detroit on camera, it is a Hollywood movie set. I don't mean to beat up on Detroit. I hope that everything goes well. I just get a little pissed when the west side of Michigan can't get a dime, and many dollars are poured into Detroit, where the city is failing in so many areas. The people that I know that work in Detroit, have had their cars stolen (in supposedly secure lots), have been mugged, and car jacked. I work in Grand Rapids, and the last time someone took our office vehicle to Detroit, it was stolen. We got it back and it was a mess. So at any rate, I refuse to drive my personal vehicle there. Nuff of my ranting. Last edited by Klynne : 01-27-2006 at 12:53 AM. |
