I have become a Food Network Junkie

The saddest part about this new addiction is that I am now on a diet. I have gained 10 pounds over the past couple of months. Thank God my work allows me to wear jeans. I can't fit into my office clothes anymore. I refuse to buy larger sizes, so, I went out and bought an eliptical machine (which was my favorite at the gym, but I had to cancel my membership because they moved the gym and I don't have time to work out on my lunch hour anymore). At any rate, I don't know why I torture myself.

Lurves the shows though. I am watching Emeril right now.

I am eating plenty of veggies, cottage cheese, v-8 and lean cuisines. I am eating about 1,000 to 1,500 calories a day, and spending 40 minutes a day on the eliptical. It gets harder to lose weight the older one gets I guess.

I don't feel like I'm starving but I am ice cold.

So - do you watch the Food Network while you're on the elliptical machine? See, that's what I'd do - to remind me why I'm working out (i.e., so I can eat all that good yummy stuff! BAM!)

Funny you should post this. I have been marvelling recently at how many of the TV sets mounted to the elliptical machines, treadmills and bikes at my gym are tuned to the Food Network. Strikes me as somewhat masochistic...

we just remodeled our kitchen and I installed an under-the-cabinet tv. Now my wife can watch Rachel Ray (hot btw) and Good Eats in the kitchen, but it seems that I end up getting hooked too and have been caught watching the Food Network in the kitchen as well. I love the kitchen tv now. I am sure my wife does too as I seem to be more willing to do the dishes now.

ahhhhhhhhh, you beat me to Rachael. My little bro always calls me when she is on, he says she reminds him of me. Because she smiles when she cooks or something....I am usually smiling when I cook because of the wine....

I can't watch TV when I work out. Time goes by too slowly. I read magazines or books. It is nice having my own machine in the house instead of going to the gym. When I read on the elliptical at the gym, people always interupt me and ask "How can you read while you exercise?" When it is nice out, I will take a walk and a book and read. Not too safe I guess.

I watch the Food Network when I am doing a crossword puzzle. However, when the "Iron Chef" is on, that has my full attention.

Rachel Ray is hot. I am happy you noticed it. She is not stick thin, and enjoys cooking and eating.

I tell you what though, her shows about doing a meal in 30 minutes or less, I can't keep up with. There is no way I could do that. First of all, I would slice a finger off. She uses some scary looking knives.

More accidents happen with dull knives than sharp ones because you're sawing away to cut the what-ever. Curl down your fingers to protect the ends of your fingers. Then if you real suck at cutting , look for the fingernail debris that you've just sliced off.
