I remember watching the Olympics as a kid and not feeling like a has-been at twelve, and could still fantasize about becoming a gymnast or an ice skater when I grew up.
I also remember in the days before Nixon, actually feeling happy and lucky and proud that I was American.

But the other day, I tried to find one of those old-fangled, rectangular, sturdy, basic tape recorders with a cassette, and had to go to four different places before I found one. We used to produce "radio shows" on them for hours and hours instead of watching TV.

i just miss not having to think about gas and electricity bills. i miss not worrying about where next months rent is coming from. i miss not being thankful of my small savings account over most other things.

Just for the record, I'd vote for Nixon over what's in place now - they definitely don't make presidents the way they used to. So yeah, come to think of it, the worst thing about him is his current state of being. Watergate seems so quaint now.

Maybe they don't make rottweilers the way they used to:

My grandmother use to make this strip that had mints tied on it for the month of December. So, every night you would untie a mint and eat it right before you went to bed. This was the count down for Christmas. I thought that was so cool.
