I agree with CJ - I think "Crash" is an important movie not so much for it's "racism is bad" message - always a good message, sure, yes - but it featured characters who had no idea they were biased/racist, and actually thought they were open-minded until they were tested in a stressful situation.
This is a lot more common an issue than most people would care to admit. I also thought it was a refreshing and honest film. After years of racist Caucasian villains in the movies, someone actually had the guts to write a movie about other forms of racism, not just "whitey's." Everyone had an ugly side that they were ashamed of, and were given a chance to recognize and change it.
